“Amazing windows”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

The stained glass windows are worth a visit alone, it was a sunny day and with the light coming through, they looked incredible. I loved the irises and lilies to the sides of the main altar window. The rest of the church interior is fairly dark but you can still make out the fabulous painted decor. It only opens for an hour on the second Sunday of the month though!

“Convergence of art in a place that, to many, is sacred”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014

It is a bit unfair to describe to a possible visitor the interior of the Franciscan Church. Certainly the details of the interior of the church should be experienced and discovered, rather than described. It is best to visit the church on a sunny day, but any day will reveal some wonders of design and detail. This is a church that, to the people actually using (rather than merely looking at) the place, should convey some of its role or function-- and this church seems to identify its function as communicating the power and presence of the worshipers' God. It succeeds in that function. Experience the discovery of its art-- there are few places like it.

When I went, I
the church was just illuminated by the Christmas tree lights which made it very homely. The stained glass was stunning and the murals were lovely. Very beautiful and reverent.

“Beautifully decorated”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

Near the main square in downtown Kracow sits this relatively plain but large church that is part of a Franciscan Abby. The interior however is highly decorated in the Gothic and Gothic Revival styles with some Baroque additions. Should not be missed.

Being fans of Art Nouveau we had to go here.

It is very dark inside and we were only able to clearly see the beautifully painted walls when we got home and looked at our photos. I do not normally use a flash in Churches out of respect but as it was allowed here I did and was so glad to be able to see the colours in the photographs.

The stained glass windows are very beautiful too. During our visit there was a wonderfully colorful Nativity scene on display.

Beautiful and well worth visiting.
