We have visited Krakow around 25 times and have now stayed often at this hotel (as well as the other Novotel at Centrum). This time we were there for 5 nights at end of January.

From the moment we arrived we were recognised and welcomed as regular returning guests, and this continued in the breakfast room, swimming pool and generally in the hotel. Off season in January, prices are much reduced and we decided to treat ourselves to the two-room suite which cost just PLN 250 (about £55) per night - less than we pay for an ordinary room in busier times.

The extra space, two sleeping areas, two toilets, separate walk in shower were some of the advantages.

The breakfast in the hotel is buffet style. We like the selection of cheeses, meats (eg poultry ham), juices, breads. There is a cooked option but that is not what we go for.

The swimming pool is small (about 10m) and is due - we understand - for renovation. However we were able to use it everyday.

The hotel is located on a busy road into the city centre, and in the university accommodation district. So lots of young people around. There is no single public transport route into the old town. The best combinations we found this time were bus 173 to Jubilat and trams 1, 2 or 6 OR bus 501 to Nowy Kleparz and tram 18 or 19. A 7 day ticket costs kists PLN 48 (about £10) and can be bought at kiosks or the increasing number of automated machines at tram stops. The hotel has a free taxi shuttle back from the old town at 21.00 (21.30 in summer) which is worth aiming for.

During this stay 7 coach loads of Italian guests arrived for 2 nights, but for much of our visit the other guests were mainly business people.

Polish is a tough language for western Europeans to learn, but English is spoken by quite a few staff in this hotel

This is my 5th time to stay in this hotel . That surely tells a story. I was part of a group on a Divine Mercy pilgrimage . Wonderfull staff ,great food both for breakfast and evening meal. Rooms clean and spacious.Would highly reccomend as location is good , close to City Centre, Free suttle service during the day to the city. A taxi to the city centre costs about €5 which is good value.

My wife and I used to stay here in the 1990's, and we decided to try it again for a New Year break. Extremely glad we did. The service was second to none throughout the hotel. Food in the restaurant and bar was very good as was the breakfast. The New Year gala dinner was excellant value for money with food being served until the early hours.

We are going back for 2014, and would recommend it to everyone.

The hotel is situated in semicentral area of Krakow, 3 km from Main Square / Rynek Glowny. There is a free of charge shuttle to Matejki Plac, but we had to pay 10 eur / day, the parking for the car.
The hotel was build in communist period, but is partially refurbished ( premium rooms). The buffet breakfast is good and cost 13,5 eur per person ( free for children under 16 ). Also, the children stay free of charge sharing parents room. We were pleased to receive a map of Krakow. The service is good and the hotel is clean. It is a good choice for families, especially with a offer of 50% price off.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are cheaper

I've stayed in this hotel for one night during my last trip to Krakow and found it ok. Rooms are clean and comfortable, tasty and varied breakfast, location is ok – short drive to the old town. The only drawback - it gets quite noisy in public areas as this hotel hosts a lot of school trips.

The hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the airport, keeping in mind that we arrived very late on a Saturday night. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious and the staff is very helpful. If you’re up for a walk, you can get to the main Krakow old town by foot in about half an hour. The hotel also has a shuttle service running throughout the day to the old square, which is free for hotel guests. The old square is buzzing on Sunday mornings, ideally you should try and get there by about 10 am when everything opens. The plethora of stalls at the main market sells anything you can think of - from modern Krakow glass works, to antiques and memorabilia from world war II. You can’t help but feel that you’re seeing and experiencing something deeply significant from the past.
If your time in Krakow is limited I suggest you take one of the open-rikshaw-type tours available from near the old town. You can also choose which language you would prefer the tour in, as tapes are pre-recorded, the guides, (who are also the drivers of the rickshaw) are fluent in English and are quite helpful, you can always try bargaining but we found the prices quite fair. We only had about 2 hours to spare and we explained this to the guide. As a result despite our limited time, we were able to view the Jewish quarters, including all the main synagogues and churches, the Jewish ghetto region and Schindler’s factory. Also make sure you take time to hear the Bugle call from the tower of St Mary's Church at the old square.
The price of food and drink is pleasantly cheaper than most of Europe and if you spend a few days here, Krakow is a magnificent place to explore, but decide ahead of time where you would like to visit. The people are warm and friendly and nearly everyone we met spoke perfect English.
The hotel staff are very helpful, and they are most willing to map out your route and give you travel tips. We truly enjoyed our time there and hope to go back soon.
