We had stayed in an apartment on a previous visit to Krakow and returned for my partners birthday to the Wentzl, and to be honest we should have stayed in an apartment. While the location is impossible to fault ,once you have seen the square, it is the square and so for first time visitors would impact more .The room was as it looked on the website however the bathroom extractor was on permanently which irritated and the shower alternated between hot and cold at will.Breakfast was uninspiring and on the whole it was not the experience we thought it would be, better to keep your Zloty's to spend around town.

Just back from 3 nights at the Wentzl Hotel. Fantastic location overlooking the market square (room 21) in the old town and very friendly staff. We ate at the restaurant on the Friday night and had a wonderful meal. Enjoyed Krakow. Very interesting town, with plenty of churches etc to see. Planned on visiting the Wawal Palace today (Monday) - didn't realise that most of it is shut today! We went to Auschwitz on a guided tour. Big mistake as it's far too rushed. We were only given 1/2 hour at Birkenau. Take the PKS bus for 20zlt. We also went to the salt mines (interesting) and took a bus to Zakopane. Loved, loved Zakopane. We headed to Kuznice where you can get a cable car to the summit. Wonderful views!!

The hotel certainly lived up to all the reviews. We had a room on the 4th floor. From the photos of the hotel this floor is obviously new and the rooms are probably a little smaller in comparison but we were really pleased with the room the decor is fab with the added benefit that there is a small balcony which overlooks the square and is great for people watching or if you smoke handy for a smoke. Like another review I would definately book my stay around the availability of this hotel.

Getting from the airport by train was so easy 15 min journey which cost £3 ea return. The hotel is then a short 10min walk away. Getting around was so easy and cheap it has to be the first time I've been away and never got lost.

There is a great choice of restaurants and Jazz clubs playing live music most nights. We loved the suitably called 'vodka' bar which is just of the main square. Its a small place but has a real cosy feel and lots of different flavours of vodka to choose from 'well it has to done'.

Don't hesitate to go to Hotel Wentzl you will not be disappointed.

Based on Tripadvisor reviews we booked the hotel for ourselves and another couple for 5 nights.
The communication from the hotel was superb through the booking process - they also organised a taxi pick up from the airport for 80pln (c£18) which we were delighted with.It dropped us about 20 yards from the hotel entrance on the square.
We had requested rooms overlooking the square, which is truly magnificent, and were advised of our room numbers 6 months ahead of our stay - the beauty of that was we could check our rooms out via the Hotel's website. They were beautiful!!! (Rooms 24 & 25) So quirky!!!...and without doubt had the most character of any hotel room we have ever stayed in.(But note there was no lift and we were on the second floor....however our cases were brought up to our room on arrival)
We had a superb view over the square and spent a lot of time people watching! The horses and carriages were beautiful! The Bugler in the tower let us know he was there as well!
Staff were very friendly and respectful throughout our stay.
Breakfast every morning was a feast and had many options with a great array of speciality meats, cheeses and fish.
We had prebooked our trips to Auschwitz and the castle, again this was done online directly with a company recommended by the hotel during our booking process. Do not miss the trip to Auschwitz....the memory will never leave us.
Krakow itself is fantastic - quality food at great prices, exceptional service and fun everywhere we went.
Totally recommended!!!!!!!

Right on the edge of the main square in Krakow, means a great location. There's no traffic in the square, so you dont have to worry about noise anyway. The no traffic means the only slight drawback is that you have to walk a short distance with your luggage to reach it.

There are not many rooms, which means a cosy and personal, characterful atmosphere. The room we had, had a small balcony giving views over the rooftops and one of the Kraks (like an old burial mound) in the distance. It had all the mod cons, and with modern but classy furnishings and a great bathroom.

Breakfast was great with no hassle, and a very good buffet on offer. We did not have dinner there (I've never fancied having dinner in a place one has breakfast - just doesnt seem the same somehow!) - but the menu looked good.

Staff were really friendly, especially if one tried to use the odd Polish word - dont worry though, they speak very good English.
All our trips we had organised beforehand, so cannot comment on their helpfulness in this respect.

However, all in all, a great place to stay - thoroughly recommend it.

Nice room (number 35) overlooking the square. We would stay there again. Staff is very nice but beware. We checked in and asked for the best way to get to Auschwitz. Staff whipped out a brochure - for 500 bucks they would call this particular driver for you. We declined. Then the staff tells us we need to make reservations for dinner early if we want to get a seat in a decent restaurant and the one in the hotel is superb but hard to get into - we declined because we did not want to make our minds up at 9am. We ended up asking a student at the mall what we should do and he took us to a bus that cost us about 5 bucks. We took a taxi back for about 50. It was around 7pm when we got back and we asked the staff if there was room in the restaurant. She tells us to go to our room and she will check to see if they can fit us in. She calls us and says, "Yes, there is a table for 2 available." We are happy thinking that we are lucky to get a table in this busy busy restaurant. We get there and we are the ONLY people there!!! We were the only customers! So much for busy. Anyway, the food was really good. Ignore the overbearing and eager to please staff and your stay will be fabulous.

This is a wonderful hotel, located right on the Main Market Square in Krakow. The room was spacious and we had a view of the square and Cloth Hall. It even had a flat panel TV (not that we spend much time watching). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has an excellent reputation, but we didn't plan ahead to get reservations, which we regretted.
