Firstly, it can be hard to find amongst the other shop doors if you didnt know it was there. But once down the marbled and clean corridor and into the small reception the impression is good. We were impressed. We stayed in the part of the hotel which had a lift. The reception staff were really helpful, I asked if there was a safe in the room and they told me they had a safe, it turns out it was one of those silver plastic type envelopes which they rip the top edge off and give you as a receipt. Not sure where this was kept but as there was always someone there just assumed it would be safe, and it was, I had nothing to worry about.
Our room was at the back on the first floor, spacious and an excellent en suite. There is no tea/coffee making facilities, but you are given 2 bottles of water one still and one fizzy which are replaced everyday if you use them. The room was cleaned and bed changed daily, the housekeeping was really good. The en suite, was spotless and cleaned daily, fresh towels if needed, there is a soap dispenser by the sink with haridryer and electric air freshener. The shower was really good, with tall shower head and shower liquid in a dispenser to the side. Can't fault the hotel at all. The room was at the back of the hotel, which overlooked a court yard where there is a restaurant which I highly recommend, we ate here our first night. There was hardly any noise, apart from in the morning when they emptied the bins, which was not a problem for us, but apart from that, we were shattered every night anyway with walking and we didnt hear anything.
The breakfast is served in the Marmolada restaurant a few doors up towards the square, and its really nice. It consisted of a buffet style mainly cold continental breakfast. Coffee in a hot urn, water in a hot urn, with a variety of tea bags. Hot and cold milk. 3 choices of cereal. The hot food was scrambled egg and what looked like frankfurter sausages (you know the ones that look like hot dogs) I never tried these so cant say what they were like by my OH did and he said the scrambled egg was really creamy and the sauages were like the german type sausages you can buy. There is also a choice of 2 types of ham and a choice of cheeses, different types of bread mostly rye bread I think as it was quite dry. There was a bowl of salad in a dressing, a bowl of peppers, a bowl of tomates, a bowl of boiled eggs, a plate of sliced hard boiled eggs with a mayonnaise type dressing, different types of cheese triangles and jam spread portions, several different variety of yoghurts in pots, various dips and a plate of cake. The cake was like a brioche (can't spell it) but it just melted in your mouth really nice. I might have missed a few things out but these are the foods that I can remember. Any buffet plate which was emptied was replenished. Each morning I had cereal with hot milk, followed by a little salad with cheese (sometimes it was smoked which was really tasty) and some smoked ham followed by a cake and several cups of coffee. Enough in the morning to set me up for the days walking around Krakow. It felt and probably looked like a lot but it was healthy, mainly salad, and you need to start the day off with a good breakfast anyway !! LOL The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, the first time you go in, when you walk in the front door you give your hotel room number and they cross you off the list and explain to you what there is, then everyday just give you hotel room number as you go in. You just get your breakfast and sit anywhere, really good, can't complain at all, and when we return to Krakow we will definately stay here again. Excellent hotel, thank you very much for a lovely stay!!
