“Charming hotel in a great location”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We stayed in the hotel for only one night but enjoyed it very much. The decor is old world, charming and comnfortable. Service is good and we loved the little garden in the back.of the reception. The hotel is very close to the train and bus station, making it very convenient if you need to travel from Krakow. However, the proximity to the station has a down side because the noise from the train and bus starts early in the morning. We asked for a quiet room facing the back and it was great. Quiet and lovely. We would do this again on a return trip. The staff is polite and helpful, the breakfast was very good and was served in a charming dining room. The internet was somewhat spotty in that it was difficult to get it consistently in our room. Overall, we liked the hotel very much.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one in the back.

Hotel Euopejski offers the charm of a historical hotel where no two rooms are alike, combined with good service. The staff is helpful and friendly to a fault, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A special note: When I left a portfolio containing passports in the room when we had departed for the airport for our return trip, I called the front desk from the airport, and the receptionist sent someone to check the room, and she put it in a car to meet us - thereby averting disaster. Five stars for this consideration! The lack of an elevator could be seen as a drawback, but the staff was eager to carry bags as a consolation, and we were informed that this condition of this beautifully-maintained historical building is schedule to be rectified in the near future. During our stay, we saw staff thoroughly deep-cleaning the rooms after they were vacated, and this says a lot about how considerate and careful this hotel is. We enjoyed a dinner in the Pub/Restaurant, also. Again, the staff was kind, considerate, and helpful.

Good points-easy to find, clean, great value (only $90 US/night), access to old town is good; Bad points rooms are a bit small (not atypical), no elevator and the trolleys run continuously and are loud when trying to sleep. I still rank it based on value "very good:.

Stayed for 2 nights after a wedding. Very comfortable, great location and pleasant and helpful staff (not always common in Poland). Good food in restaurant at very reasonable prices and a lovely garden area at the back

This hotel is very traditional and old fashioned in style. Excellent location for the old town, the main square and the public transport (bus and train station). The room were lovely and clean and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style with eggs as a hot choice. Staff were very friendly and English speaking. Free Wifi in the lounge area and bedroom, just ask reception for the passwords. The old town and square definite worth a visit, full of bars, restaurants and shops. Also full of history. Food and drink cheap and very nice, all places we went to spoke English.
We went to the Salt-mine on the train: expect to queue for tickets, we waited for 90mins for tickets, but worth the wait. Also went to Auchwitz on the train, took almost 2 hours to get there (train then bus), then queued for another hour for tickets. Very overpowering experience.
Money exchange all around the city so look out for the best deals.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the back so no noise

Located a couple blocks from the main shopping square, this hotel is full of old fashioned, professional appeal. What won us over was the professional service, location, fantastic restaurant and breakfast, and amazingly comfortable beds. I haven't had as comfortable, soft beds since I stayed at a 5 star hotel. I realize that some may prefer more solid mattresses, but these were perfect for us. I appreciated that there were no noisy residents and I'm not certain what other reviewers meant by noisy traffic. We didn't hear anything from traffic other than a police siren. Outside the window the Galerie and square was lit by colorful night lights. The breakfast was great--the cook made amazing eggs cooked fresh for your preference. There were a large variety of meats, cheese, breads, croissants, fruits, cereal and yogurts. The in-hotel restaurant has a quaint outside patio, but their meals were awesome. More affordable food, beers and alcohol compared to the restaurants in the market square. The greeter also spoke good English and was very polite. They provided unlimited, free glass water and delicious Polish fruit candies in the rooms--a rarity at hotels in my experience. Overall, I think this hotel should be rated a 4 star and was shocked by the exceptional value considering we paid the equivalent of a regular Marriott.

Room Tip: Ask for a window facing the Galerie--it lights up in beautiful colors at night.
