Owner description: Serving as a royal residence and the site where the country's rulers governed Poland for five centuries (1038-1596), this castle is a symbol of the independent Polish state and today contains a priceless collection of 16th-century Flemish tapestries, considered to be one of the largest in the world.

A truly superb site its absolutely massive and the views over the river and city from the top are an absolute must see! One of the best looked after and largest castles I have come across the cathedral on site is also a must see!

Unfortunately for us a lot of the things we wanted to visit were shut down for maintenance. But what was open we saw and it was very good.

What a beautiful place! Breathtaking! We walked from the old town around the outside of the castle, down to the river Vistula and back around to the sloping entrance into the castle.
The castle just has so much to see with regards to different architecture. There is a beautiful statue of Pope Jean Paul II and a lovely cafe where you can sit and absorb all of the atmosphere. Free entry. I believe there are museums inside the castle as well. Would recommend a visit

Brilliant trip and so easy with the head phones you can do the trip at your own pace. The cathedral is stunning and the views from the bell tower are worth it.

Worth a day’s trip and wonder about. Plenty of interest to see, the Italians built it and it looks fabulous, the views are great too.
