Don't miss this Castle. I would encourage visitors to get the audio guide when they buy tickets. With the audio guide, you'll get a nice narrative of the rooms as you walk through them. My only gripe with the audio guide was that I had to go back to the ticket area to exchange it for one with a fully charged battery.

More than that, if you're schedule permits, take a guided tour. We attended the guided tour of the royal apartments and really took a lot of wonderful knowledge with us when we left. It was definitely worth it.

You will get much more out of this if you visit it one of the free walking tours first as there are some really fascinating aspects to its history. You can then buy the tickets and take it all in at your own pace.

It's closed on Mondays but one of the best places we visited. So much history and lots to see. You could spend all day looking around.

An impressive castle grounds, that are free to just walk around if you don't want to see any of the exhibits. Great views over the river, especially on a nice day. Tickets aren't confusing, you just need to pick and choose what exhibits you want to go to. There's a description of each on the back wall of the ticket office - you ticket will then allow you to visit the ones you have requested, each bit costs a different amount. We also got an audio guide as we didn't know any of the history about the castle. We visited the state rooms, which were impressive - the audio guide was a lot more detailed than we required, but if you are v interested in that period, then it's very detailed and informative! The words opposite/next to sometimes got confused and led us to the wrong paintings but you soon work it out! A little cafe and a restaurant on the grounds for lunch as well.
