Owner description: Serving as a royal residence and the site where the country's rulers governed Poland for five centuries (1038-1596), this castle is a symbol of the independent Polish state and today contains a priceless collection of 16th-century Flemish tapestries, considered to be one of the largest in the world.

A huge beautiful Castle and grounds that could very easily fill a full day up if you see it all. You can buy seperate tickets for certain areas or an access all area ticket (or you can just wander the grounds for free). Remember the dragons cave!

“another must see in Krakow”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

As others have noted you can walk around and see a lot without buying a ticket (that's what we did) but if we had had more time I probably would have purchased the ticket just to be able to see much, much more. It is a really lovely location, go early in the day before the crowds. I do believe you can spend the better part of a day here - next time I will!

“Come walk round”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Made a mistake walking up you see the ticket office and join the Q but you can walk round the castle for free, you just pay to go in different bits like the state rooms and the treasury and armoury tickets are limited for different sections and theres a count down clock for different sections telling you how many tickets are left and we missed out on the treasury and armoury as all tickets had sold out. Well worth a visit

“Beautiful royal buildings”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

You can visit different parts of the castle. We visited the Vaults which was excavated parts under the castle and really interesting. We also visited the Dragon's lair with the Dragon statue at the end. As you only pay to visit the parts you want it is very inexpensive. The buildings are beautiful and courtyard is like something from a fairy tale.
