“Architecture and gift shop in one”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

In my opinion it's the most splendorous "gift shop" in the world. Located in the middle of the main square sukiennice always were the merchants gathering place. The architecture is amazing and the stands offer a variety of gifts for tourist around the world. Of course one can find them cheeper elsewhere, but for the fun of buying a 1 or 2 euro more, it's worth a visit.

“Ultra touristical, commercial shops in superb, authentic historic building”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

The Sukiennice is one of the landmarks of Krakow's old town. In the middle of the Rynek Glowny, it is untouched since a few centuries. A beautiful construction in the fantastic setting of the market place. The inside is as beautiful as teh outside.
Inside, a tourist market takes place every single day, boasting "specialised", "authentic" Polish artefacts. While most of them might be "authentic", most of them are fakes, of course overpriced, kitsch. Still, this is a high condensation of all of this tourist stuff, which is very practical for the souvenir hunting.
and, some of the objects are simply beautiful - they dont need to have been handcarved in the Polish Tatra mountains to be pretty :).
Also the choice is huge, and you might stumble over some artefacts you would have difficulties to find elsewhere
Finally: an enjoyable stroll is always worth it, in particular for the beauty of the place, while the ultra touristical aspects destroy the atmosphere and might push the "adventurers" amongst you rather into the smaller streets or to Kazimierz. Still, I go check out Sukiennice everytime I visit Krakow, hoping for a secret and rare treasure ...

“Interesting place to visit!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Cloth Hall is a market. The majority of items here is amber. The amber is BEAUTIFUL but I feel there is TOO much amber and too little other traditional Polish things to buy. However once being in the underground museum one understand the Cloth Hall a lot better. Still worth a visit!
