In this well designed exhibition you can learn a lot about the key beliefs of the Jews when you walk through the synagogue with the audioguide and watch the beautiful items displayed there.

The oldest synagogue in Poland, rebuilt several times over the centuries, is now a museum. Located in the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, it is worth a 15 or 20 minute visit to see the building itself and the Judaica inside. There is also a plaque with a quote from Koskiusco thanking the Jewish community for their support of Poland.

Great that it is a museum and has been preserved. Didn''t have the chance to go in but I sat outside in their garden and found it sad knowing that many poor Jews had been murdered by the Nazi's (shot) directly outside this synagogue. very sad and moving. Brilliant that it has been preserved as a memorial to the murdered and a warning to history that these things must never happen again.

Although the synagogue itself is rather lifeless the exhibition and display of artefacts, photos and so on provide a good basic overview of Jewish practice, festivals etc.

The Stara Synagoga is basically a crash course in Jewish history, religion and culture. This beautiful synagogue is transformed into a museum, and as such offers lots of background information about the synangogue itself, but also about Jewish rituals and holidays. It also has a very informative exhibition about the Jewish school which used to be housed near it (or in it, I can't remember for sure). If you want to learn more about Jewish history, I would definitely visit this marvelous old synagogue. The visit will take about one to two hours.
