“Big with plenty to see - from art to guns, costumes and art nouveau”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Big and worth a visit. Has a little bit of everything including some quite disturbing pieces in the avant garde section.
Lots of guns, costumes and Polish art. Also quite a bit of glassware and porcelain.
We were told told we could spend all day there but took us just over an hour.
About 10 minute walk from market square.
Be warned. Do not attempt to do this gallery out of order or you will upset the guards.

“Worth a look, for the modern art”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

If you visit this museum, go straight to the second floor - a huge display of 20th century Polish art, must be the best collection in the country. As you would expect with modern art, there is some rubbish, but a surprisingly high proportion of quality material. You could spend a couple of hours here quite easily. Also in the building are some less interesting displays - Decorative Art (1st floor) and Arms and Uniforms (ground floor), as well as varying temporary exhibitions.

There is a large gift shop and a cafe within the building. The cafe has the slowest service in the city - allow three hours if you want a hot drink.

NB: the map location provided by TripAdvisor is completely wrong. The museum is an ugly concrete building a mile to the west of the old town.

“The best day in Krakow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

I really think the particularly interesting exhibitions of this museum can make satisfied each human, that has some interests in art or, may be, history.

There is a collection of weapons from different periods of polish history on the first floor. It was just very interesting to see the winged suit of armor!
On the second floor there is a sustainable exhibition of decorative and applied arts. All those things would be a special interest for all the ladies! Personally me was pleased by the glass and art-nouveau collection.
The arts gallery on the last floor has not large, but impressive collections of paintings and sculptures from different periods and styles.
One more +: there is a souvenir shop downstairs, where you can buy postcards with small reproductions of the seen to send them friends, as so as books to keep them in your library!

As a conclusion: after visiting this place I was wanting the only one thing - to stay there 4ever!

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

One of best museums in Poland. In Main Building u can find gallery of polish modern art (XX century) that could be good start for people interested in local art. Programming for guest exhibition is very interesting - check out what is going on there now.
