The history of the student invasion, the cannon and the architecture make this a great place to visit right in the middle of old town.
Read it or go with a guide that could explain it to you!

Tomas, our guide on one of the carts, brought us there. At first what we saw was the old courtyard but a couple of the many tour groups were all standing on the opposite wall. We turned just in time to see the clock open up with figures emerging. The guide didn't even know about this.

The university was celebrating its 650th anniversary when we were there. Strong sense of the history in a lovely quadrangle, interesting museum too.

We thoroughly enjoyed an extended English tour of this famous and historic university situated in central Krakow. It was a short walk from the main square. Upon entering the inner courtyard you are back in the 13th century. Touring the various room which are filled with all manner of items from the past centuries provided us with numerous moments of reflection on the present times. The time of the tour flew by and we soon found ourselves back in the courtyard ready to enjoy a coffee in the student cafe. It all was very worthwhile and memorable.
