The university was celebrating its 650th anniversary when we were there. Strong sense of the history in a lovely quadrangle, interesting museum too.

We thoroughly enjoyed an extended English tour of this famous and historic university situated in central Krakow. It was a short walk from the main square. Upon entering the inner courtyard you are back in the 13th century. Touring the various room which are filled with all manner of items from the past centuries provided us with numerous moments of reflection on the present times. The time of the tour flew by and we soon found ourselves back in the courtyard ready to enjoy a coffee in the student cafe. It all was very worthwhile and memorable.

We saw some of Copernicus's instruments, lovely old, tiled stoves and some beautiful furniture. An enjoyable visit.

Great museum if you're interested in science but most of it went over my head. The replica 14th C clock goes through it's paces every 2 hours and it's certainly worth timing your visit to watch this.
