Owner description: Styled after Arab defensive architecture, this masterpiece of medieval military engineering with its circular fortress was added to the city's fortifications in the late 15th century.

It was bizarre but we seemed to be the only ones wandering around here! We walked the city wall and saw the Barbican, there's so much history in this small town. Entry is cheap for everything in Krakow, and this was no exception

This beautiful structure is all that remains of what was once the fortification of the city, perfectly preserved it is located a few hundred meters from the central Market Square on Ulica Florianska.
Impossible to miss, and highly recommended.

If you suffer from heights like me, don't look down as you walk around inside the top of the Barbakan - in places you can see right down through to the bottom of the moat! It was an interesting place to visit and provided lots of photo opportunities - there are some lovely views towards the Grunwald monument and St Florian's Church.

Impressive mediaeval fortification that formed part of Krakow's defensive walls. Good views from the upper gallery. Definitely worth a visit.
