“French flavour in the old quarter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

Great place for a light lunch with a selection of rustic French cheeses and refreshing wines to create a pleasant contrast to the general fare available in the vicinity. If Nicolas the owner is available he is an engaging host with good taste and courtesy.

“Polish service at its best (thats sarcasm for the american readers)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

We came in late(ish - about 9:30pm) and the upstairs hostess had retreated from the numerous mosquitos to the cavernous depths below, where the bulk of resteraunt is housed. We were left wandering among empty tables thinking the place was closed until after yelling a few times a young girl came up and cheerily led us below.

The menu is somewhat french in that everything seems well saturated in garlic, salt, butter, and wine. The wine list is extensive, the food well priced (I belive the starters were 15-25 Zt and the maines 35-65 Zt, the water not so well priced at 20 Zt a small bottle I think it was more expensive than our wine (at 16zt a glass).

The food itself was typical rustic french fair with a 'gourmet twist'. Its Polish trying to be French and it tastes and looks like it.

I had the wild boar - which was in a potato pie of sorts with very excellently cut satued potatoe lid. I have to say the chef has some great knife skills.

My partner had the lamb which sounded, and judging from her reaction, tasted oustanding. It also happened to be the most expensive thing on the menu.

I imagine it is what french dining was like in britain during the 80s. Desert cart included.

We did have to wait a very long time for the bill (despite being asked twice) but customer service is never a Polska's forte. My partner was even confused with a waitress by another table (also desperate for the bill).

by in large this is your likely best of anything you'll find by the main square.

I certainly felt so anyway.

“A little taste of Paris!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Walked into this place for breakfast on our first morning, and returned every morning afterwards. Despite the tempting buttery smell of croissants and pain au chocolat, I opted for the croques monsieur and wasn't disappointed. Whist we ate, staff were busy preparing food for the rest of the day...huge quiches, crisp green salads, tempting cakes, and pastries. Great value for money too.
