“An oasis of calm in a busy city.”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Every time I visit Krakow I go to Massolit to look for books that I would just not find so easily anywhere else. The café is old and worn but very very comfortable, the coffee is good and although I have never tried the tea they seem to have tea for all tastes. The food is usually good although I have had one or not quite up to scratch pastries. It's not a place to have a meal, just a snack; cheesecake, raspberry tart, apple pie, quiche, and similar things.

You can read the books while drinking your coffee, put them back on the shelves if you decide they are not for you.

The staff are very helpful and the wifi is pretty good.

For me I would say the only thing I really dislike is the jazz background music. I would much rather have something baroque or from the romantic period, or even some rock.

“Oasis of calm”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

A wonderful experience - mix of old and new books - in ramshackle amalgam of rooms. Charming, helpful staff, could not have been better served. Did we buy ? You bet ! Came home with warm memories. Want to re-visit asap.

“Place with unforgettable atmosphere”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

It is not just a cafe. It is a cafe in a bookstore. But not just a normal bookstore. There is a huge collection of books in English, also second hand. You can actually read them there. The interior is absolutely marvelous, great atmosphere, jazz music, old furniture. Pies are delicious there, and coffee/cocoa is just a perfect addition to a good book. It might be not very easy to find the place because it is a few steps from the market square in a rather calm area. Service is helpful, they speak good English. Also the place seems to be gay friendly (good choice of gay studies books) which is nice.

“Dedicated to book lovers and foreigners”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Massolit isn't a regular café. This place is a bookstore and reading room at the same time! Not only can you read english and french books there, but you can also drink delicious cocoa (seriously perfect!) and eat yummy cakes. During winter and autumn season they are also serving tasty soup.
There's incredible atmosphere of old books, furniture are wooden and decoration is simply splendid.
Service is just great, they can speak english very well.
It's perfect place for book lovers and foreigners.
I have to note that the location is perfect: near the city center and at the same time in very calm surrond.
