Just back from a few days in Krakow and I was not disappointed! We organised a day trip to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines with a private tour group. There was 6 of us and the bus picked us up from our accommodation. We visited Auschwitz first, a long tour so be warned to get a good breakfast in first. We visited on a day where it was -6 degrees Celsius and needless to say the cold was stifling so make sure you wrap up well! The salt mines are a lovely way to unwind after the tense atmosphere at Auschwitz, the mines have a strange serenity to them and it is a very calm environment plus you get to lick the walls to extract the salt-great for those with a savory tooth ;)There are several gift shops down at the bottom of the mine, I bought a beautiful salt lamp- worth a lot of money over here but in Poland it only cost roughly €10!! Major bargain! Certainly recommend both tours to anyone, you wont be disappointed!
