Very interesting and clever museum. As other reviews mention ticket booth and entrance are not well marked. Well worth finding them

Our guide on the walking tour recommended this museum otherwise we had no idea of its existence! Fascinating story of Krakow, the ruins and artefacts are incredible (it’s similar to the Jorvik museum in York). We were told it would take approx 1 hour but we took 2 and a half..... there’s so much to see and read about and at the end there are 4 short films to see which run on a loop - we saw all 4. Highly recommend a visit.

Plenty to see and learn about Krakow all the way back to medieval Krakow. Obviously a very modern museum only recently built but that does not take away from its character. Very interesting hour or so.

This museum was built as a result of an archaeological dig of the square, it was then covered over and opened as a museum, the square was then relayed over the museum, tickets are difficult to come by, but are accessible, even when sold out, via the krakow card, this is available from the tourist office on the opposite side to the museum entrance. Entrance fee is 42pln or free with the krakow card. Card allows free entry to over 40 attractions and free public transport travel including a bus to the salt mines.

A vivid city. Beautiful old town with many bars and restaurants. The jewish district is a must! I expected more affordable prices in souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants but in the centre didn’t happen, in the jewish district you can find a more normal situation when it comes for money. Krakow is a little bit expensive in comparison with other polish cities.

80% of the exhibits are pieces of rock and wood, no real wow factor in here, it should be a free exhibit to avoid being disappointed.

A lot of the videos and demonstrations are not English friendly and for a museum that has about 10 screens advising different parts of history on each one, felt like we missed out on a lot.

Would advise not to go unless you’re polish.

It’s just not good.

Exactly in the middle of Krakow's Old Town, below the Cloth Hall, lies an antique treasure trove of history. Dating back to medieval times, the cobblestone walkways, bridge and walls of the bygone market, past human lives and activities have been excavated which now offer us a glimpse of the past.
Don't miss this chance to "travel back in time" by walking around the museum located under the bustling main square of Krakow.
Interesting archaeological find!

It was interesting to see the remains of the medieval square and it was displayed in a really dramatic way using mirrors etc. Saying that it was not as good we expected.

The Museum is actually situated under the old market square and was the site of an archaeological dig which has been preserved and roofed over.
It tells the history of Krakow over the years and has many interesting interactive exhibits.Electronic storyboards allow you to read about the exhibits in English and we found it well worth a visit, particularly in a rainy day.
They only allow so many people in at one time as space is limited so you have to buy a ticket for a time slot from the ticket office which is situated on the other side of the cloth hall

I visited here quite late in the evening so enjoyed an almost solo (well, apart from my partner) journey around the museum. As with every place I visited in Krakow, you are greeted by a grumpy guide who insists that you follow a certain path. Woe betide anyone who dare deviate beyond this. If they could usher you along with a broom, they would.

Odd Polish hospitality to one side, there was a fair amount to see here, nearly all of it interesting. Nice, modern, interactive exhibitions and a few surprises.

It wasn't expensive so gets a pretty high rating, but it does drag on a bit toward the end and the theme wears a bit thin.

It is cold, by the way, so take an extra layer. It is also quite dark down there so, if your eyesight isn't so good, you might want to give it a miss.
