Just back from 3 great days in Krakow, staying at the Maksymilian hotel. We arrived early and room was not ready but not a problem reception found us one that was so no waiting around. The hotel was everything the reviews said it was, clean tidy and very close to the old town. The history of the hotel and the renovations were in pictures on the walls fantastic.Breakfast was in the cellar and plenty of it, assortment of teas so something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and polite and it was a bonus to have bottled water in your room. Will defiantly be going back x

Room Tip: We had a room on a high floor no noise at all very quiet.

Just back from 3 days in Krakow with my fiancé, and selected the Maksymilian with the help of previous Tripadvisor reviews.

I would say the reviews are accurate and I would recommend the hotel as a very good option for budget stay in a good location. I have to say that when I first entered our room (103) I was slightly disappointed with the size, but the room was very clean and the bathroom was nice and modern with a very good powerful shower. New towels were supplied every day which was better than some 4 star hotels that I've stayed at in other cities! I also appreciated the tea/coffee making facilities and the complimentary bottles of water, a nice touch. We didn't need to use the air con but from reading reviews of other hotels it sounds like air con isn't that common among older and less expensive hotels so I guess it's a bonus due to the recent refurb, and would be very welcome in hot summers.

Breakfast was good, a decent amount of choice of cold continental things plus very good scrambled eggs and two kinds of cooked Polish sausage.

Hope to revisit Krakow next year and would stay here again.

I took a group of 44 17-18 year olds to Krakow, Poland on a school trip back in February. The hotel was booked through the company we were using, so I wasn't sure ha to expect, however, they exceeded all my expectations. The rooms were all very clean; staff were friendly & polite, even when they wanted to close the bar & we were still sitting chatting. They were very accommodating when they organised packed lunches for us, which were very good. The location is great for seeing Krakow, only about 5-10minute walk for the old town square & gat links to the tram lines. The only issue was that the car park was a couple of minutes walk away, but I don't think that is the fault of the hotel. We didn't use the spa facilities, so I cannot comment on them. Overall I was really pleased with our stay & wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We'd originally booked elsewhere but came here after finding it on the Internet, having been disappointed with our previous place! The staff were very helpful, the room was spotlessly clean and bliss! Air con (it was around 40 degrees!). All in all, we were thrilled to find this place, it was just a stroll (15 mins) into the historic centre. There are tram stops on the Main Street outside. There are lots of shops, bars, cafes near by. Great hotel, great and very comfortable stay and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was ok too!

Room Tip: Possibly ask for a room at the back of the hotel as there are trams running past the building on the...

This was our fourth stay at this hotel, we stayed for 2 weeks and had our usual room 33. As usual all the reception staff including Joanna, Karolina and the 3 new girls were very helpful and friendly. All the staff here are lovely people including the maintenance team, the breakfast and restaurant staff and the housekeeping team. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the Old Town and about 10 minutes to the Castle area. The room is quite large, cleaned daily with complete change of bedding every 3 days. Lovely bathroom, plenty of hot water with a powerful shower, shampoo and shower gel are provided daily. The room has a very comfortable bed, overlooks the courtyard, T.V. with some English channels, kettle, tea coffee sugar and creamer are provided daily along with 2 bottles of water. The room has a safe, 2 chairs, desk, couch and plenty of wardrobe space. Smoking is not allowed but you can use the courtyard and have a drink from the bar at the same time. The summer garden is having work done at the moment, a roof has been put on and there are plenty of new seats and tables out there, presumably so that it can be used all year round. Breakfast is in the basement and there is plenty of choice including cereal, scrambled egg, hot dog sausage, sausage and onion, salads, breads, cheeses, meats, pate, cake and yoghurts. There is a toaster, coffee and a variety of teas, considering it is included in the price of your room which is unusual in Krakow, it is a very good breakfast. The restaurant used to be in the basement also but it is now in what was the conference room which is much better. Guests can get 10% off food excluding pizza's and the food is great with plenty of choice and much cheaper than in the Old Town. The chef's are excellent. There are plenty of bakeries near to the hotel. We really enjoy our stays at this hotel whilst visiting Krakow, the only downside to this last visit was a very loud English school party who stayed for 2 nights and then an extremely loud group of Danes who stayed for a few days. Whilst the group of Danes was there other guests could not use the restaurant as they were having their evening meal at the hotel. They made a lot of noise in the courtyard well into the night and were asked by various people to be quiet all to no avail. As the owner and her family seem to live at the hotel the noise must have annoyed them. Hopefully in future due to the hotel being popular now that it has established itself, it will no longer take in school groups or large groups of people. I would hate to think that families and couples would be put off staying at this lovely hotel due to bad reviews about groups. Well done to everybody at the hotel and we hope to see you all again soon. Did not try the spa at the hotel but have been told by other guests that it is very good and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel

Nothing exceptional about the hotel save the location and the fact that they did provide the number to a very good tourist guide with car who showed us around Auswitz and the Salt Mines and thereafter dropped us to the Bahnhof -- Breakfast was in a basement type of hall which was cute though much of the common areas felt spooky due to human sensitive lights which kept going on and off ---rooms nothing great --overall OK

Room Tip: Roadside rooms offer a view of the street
