Reviewed August 13, 2011

Three friends and myself have just come back from staying at the Hotel Maksymilian in Krakow, I cannot fault this hotel nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the housekeeper service came into your room every day to put it back to what it was when you first arrived. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main square (I was travelling with people who were over 70) and they had no problems doing the walk. With that in mind there are also Tram stops more or less outside the hotel going in both directions (depending where your heading for) You can get tickets which cover you for one day or a full week and maybe more, you buy your ticket at the machines then validate them (only once) when you first get on the tram. The hotel can also supply you with tickets for any of the tours to Auschwitz / The Salt Mines and other tours.
The breakfast is Continental and very well set out, we all found something to eat.
All in all I cannot recommend this hotel enough, that said I am even trying to rebook in the next couple of weeks to go back.

Room Tip: If you want tea & coffee making facilities it is better to email them in advance

This place was wonderful. We needed a room for three. Our room was spacious and lovely. The bathroom was large, modern and spotless, and the hair dryer really worked. The internet connection was also excellent and was included in the price. The hotel itself was perfectly located, walking distance to all sights. The building was recently renovated so it seemed quite new but the renovation kept lots of its old world original charm. It's that kind of charming little hotel one likes to find in Europe instead of the cookie cutter chain variety. The breakfast room downstairs was a wonderfully renovated space with lots of old brick, and the breakfast (included in our room price) was delicious and varied. Everything one might wish to eat for breakfast was there. The staff was always available, helpful and friendly and all spoke excellent English. They helped us arrange a tour to Auschwitz and our airport transfer. If i had to complain about something, I would wish for a wastebasket in the sleeping room and a couple of cups and some coffee or tea to go with the nice hot pot they provided. This hotel offered excellent service, location and value. I would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel had been refurbished in 2010, some refurbishment is still ongoing but no noise was apparent. This hotel was 5 minutes walk from the central square with all the cafes and bars, 15 minutes from Wawel Castle and about 30 minutes from the Jewish quarter. Lovely hot breakfast, hot showers, tv and kettle in room, towels changed daily. I forgot my travel adaptor, the hotel loaned me one. I also made a few telephone calls within Poland from my room, no charge. Hotel staff were really pleasant and helpful. Free wifi in your room or free internet usage in the reception area. Room was clean and all rooms over look the courtyard and hotel entrance is set in off the main road, so all was quite at night time. Would definltey go back to Krakow and would stay in this hotel!

Room Tip: Hotel entrance is set back off the main road and all rooms overlook the courtyard so are quiet at ni...

We stayed here the weekend of 29/7/'11. We booked a double and a single room. The double we requested with a bathroom with disabled facilities. Both rooms were very good and although on different floors were near enough not to get lost trying to find each other. The double was on the ground floor and was very well presented. We had tea and coffee making facilities in the room which was not available to others who reviewed this hotel previously - I guess the management read the reviews and then act on them. We were only a little disappointed that breakfast is served in a basement restaurant - unfortunately the lift goes to the basement but there are still 2 small flights of steps to negotiate which I managed okay but would be impossible with a wheelchair. Having said that the staff here are so helpful and friendly I am sure they would find a way to bring food up to the reception area lounge if needed. Overall we would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I sent a number of e-mails before going and all were answered quickly and efficiently so I would sen...

After many many hours reading reviews on this very site my boyfriend and I ran across Hotel Maksymilian. We researched it a bit, everything looked good so we thought we'd take the chance. I'm very happy we did. Our room was quite bigger than I expected it to be. The 'end' tables kind of hindered walking from one side to the other but overall the room was great. Clean bathroom and room. We had a balcony that opened to the courtyard so that was nice to open the doors when we slept (since I didn't see the ac). The breakfast in the morning was really good and the staff was super nice.

We walked from the train station to the hotel in no time, it's a very short walk to the main square and overall it's a great location that is close but not too close.

I would definitely stay here again.

PROS:
Clean
Friendly staff
Not too noisy
Close but not too close
Great breakfast
Decent sized rooms

Room Tip: Balcony room

Me and my significant other settled on this hotel as it was reasonable, looked nice and was close to the city square and we were not dissapointed at all. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were very comfortable and new and the food was very good. The only two complaints I have is that the carpet could have used a quick vacuuming but that is just me nit-picking also the room had no air conditioning and it got quite hot at night as it was summer but we did however have a balcony so we just left the door open and everything sorted itself out. So to sum it all up Hotel Maksymilian is a great hotel and definetly worth checking out. It is also a short walk to the market square which is where everything is and that is another bonus.

I stayed at Hotel Maksymilian with my teenaged daughter for 8 nights during the weeek before Easter. The hotel exceeded my expectations. Prior to arrival, the hotel confirmed my booking by email and gave me a bus schedule since we planned to arrive from the airport by public transporatation (bus 292). The stop (Plac Inwalidow) was only 2 blocks from the hotel and check-in was easy. We had a large room with twin beds. Everything was brand-new and immaculately clean in the room and throughout the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful in answering questions about getting around. Breakfast was a nice cold buffet that was very satisfying and had many options which was important for me since I am gluten intolerant and cannot eat cakes or bread. The building is newly renovated, and tastefully done, with a classic exterior and modern interior. The hotel was a short 10 minute stroll from Market Square and was convenient to tram and bus stops, restaurants, and some small shops. It was quiet at night. The only negative was that we did not have maid service in the room after the first 2 nights. However, when I asked about it, the problem was cheerfully solved and we had service for the remainder of our stay.
