Well, top of the list, Thank you Phil, what a punctual, lovely fellow well knowledged man.
Booked tour from UK, Pick up time for us at our hotel was 7.50am, Phil arrives 7.50am on the dot. What a lovely chap from the onset, we pick up 2 other couples and are on our way. You get to watch a video on the way, it's the one they show in Auschwitz so saves an hour wasted time in there, when we get there around an hour Phil escorts you in past all the waiting groups and school parties, gives you a really informative guide book and explains where you should and should not go, if you follow what he says you get a fantastic tour and miss nothing important. Roughly 2 1/2 hours after, you've seen plenty no rush and to be honest it is so moving by then you should of seen enough.
We meet where Phil parked and once we were all there he drove us around the corner to Birkenau death camp, here he took us on a walking tour of the place as to be honest you need someone to do this with knowledge of the place as half what your looking at Birkenau as been destroyed by the Germans and so with Phils excellent knowledge he guided us through the best parts and told us things you cannot just see or know.
After his tour we get in the transport and head for the Salt Mines your, at this point you are hungry and of course thirsty if its a hot day as ours was. So purchase the pack lunch Phil offers as an extra, we got rolled, crisps, drinks, water, chocolate, fruit, yoghurt, and more, cannot fault it. We ate on the way to the salt mines.
The salt mines are a guided tour with their own guides. Lots of stairs down but lifts back to the surface, this place will amaze you, fantastic.
Once finished we are returned to the doorstep of our hotels and back for 6~6.30. Fantastic, knowledge filled tour, great value for money, and Phil is one great guy who knows his stuff. We highly recommend Krakow Tours and Phil Clark
