Not big, but very nice. A lot of shops, cafes, amazing old buildinds. Krakow's historic center is surrounded by parks, so you cannot be lost anyway

“Visiting Krakow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

Just returned from a long weekend in Krakow. Great place with lots to see. We flew into Krakow Airport, then had to make our own way into the city. There are a number of options: Taxi, Bus or Train. We took the Train. Walk out of the Airport, turn right and follow the airport road for about 250 yds. You then arrive at the station (looks more like a bus stop, but as it's next to the rail line, you guess it's the station). You can buy tickets on the train, in Sept 2013 it cost 12zl (approx £2.50) per person. The train goes directly to Krakow Glowny main Station and takes about 20 mins. Trains run about every 30 mins each way. Glowny Station is fairly central, so getting around is easy after that. City is nice, especially around the main square, where if the day (or night) is warm, you can sit and eat or drink in one of the numerous cafes/restaurants and watch the world go by. Food and drink are mostly cheaper than UK, but some places will cost more, especially those on the square itself where they have the bulk of the tourist trade. Visits to the Salt Mines or Auschwitz can be bought from your hotel and cost about 130zl (approx £27) for each individual trip etc. Both those trips involve a lot of walking, so wear the right shoes! All in all a nice place to go for a weekend break.
The only downside is the influx of rowdy British Stag/Hen parties or those other Brits who just want to go and drink. They are an embarrassment to the British people.
