My girlfriend and I stayed at the Kossak Hotel for three nights from the 30th of December for New Years Eve. We really enjoyed our trip to Krakow and the hotel exceeded our expectations.
Our room was very comfortable, clean, modern and we had a nice view of Wawel Castle and Wisla River, even from the first floor. We did not eat any meals in the hotel, so we are unable to comment on those but the deserts and cocktails in Cafe Oranzeria were fantastic and surely, what must be, the best view in Krakow! The hotel is situated perfectly for great views and venturing throughout the city. The only negative would be the lack of channels in English but we spent such little time in the hotel that it was of little hindrance.

We booked two trips with Cracow Tours via the hotel reception; the Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz/Birkenau Concentration camps. Both are certainly a must when visiting Krakow, although the guided tours can be a little drawn out. We were able to get the 50% off student prices without ID, meaning the trips were only £12/13 each!

The weather was sunny throughout the trip, making it more pleasant exploring the city but it was still necessary to wrap up warm. There was a great atmosphere in the Rynek Glowny (main market square) with its stunning buildings, aided by the continental market and Christmas decorations. The horse carriage rides are great and also a good way to see parts of the city you are unlikely to walk to. The price was 100 Zloty (c£20) for 30 minutes or 200 Zloty for an hour etc, which I feel is a reasonable price to keep the horses well cared for.

A final tip would be to purchase any gifts or souvenirs in the city itself as the airport is rather small and sells only the usual chocolate, cigarettes and alcohol at prices often double those in Krakow.

Enjoy your stay

The hotel itself is in a great location - only 5 minute walk from the castle and no more than 10 minutes from the main square. It's clean, serviced properly and has welcoming staff. Excellent wifi throughout and affordable laundry facilities. Breakfast also very good.

We only spent but one night in this surprisingly upgraded and modern boutique hotel strategically located down from the famous Krakow Castle. Don't let the outside appearance fool you, this place is the "real deal" for a small hotel on the inside. Modern lifts, great lighting, and detailed with a trendy decor. We opted for an upgraded studio room with a view of the river and the castle. The vista was very mystical at night and the sunrise stunning in the morning (this was late December). The panorama alone from the 5th floor was worth the price of admission. The bed was huge, clean, a little bit hard, but the pillows were goose down and fresh. The room was a little small, but clean, well appointed with a LG flat screen and the large bathroom more than made up for the size discrepancy. The hotel has a very cool bar downstairs, a hip restaurant upstairs (closed for a private party the night we were there but we did check it out) and shares a workout facility with the place next door. Our receptionist was wonderful and directed us to an excellent restaurant that evening. Dollar for dollar a solid value, we highly recommend this little hotel as a great option when on holiday near the historical and magical Old Town area of Krakow.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view, worth the upgrade!

We stayed here for 4 days leading upto Christmas holidays so the Christmas markets were on in most of the squares. Hotel Kossak is in a great location for a short walk to Wawel Castle, the main square and the river. We only had breakfast at the hotel as we like to visit the restaurants so can't comment on them but the view from the restaurant at the top of the hotel is great. Breakfast was self service and they make omlettes etc to order. Reception Staff great - all speak excellent English. They arranged our trip to the Salt Mines (which is a must!). All rooms extremely clean and modern. Would definitely stay again.

Four of us stayed here for two nights in late December. Great hotel, very clean and comfortable with friendly service.
It is a 70 zloty taxi ride from the airport.
Free internet. Prices in lobby bar are very reasonable - make sure you try the Pierogi - especially the Russian version.
Mini bar prices very reasonable as well.
At breakfast in addition to the food available at the buffet you can order omelettes, poached eggs, fried eggs etc at no extra cost.
Hotel is reasonable located - hand y both for Main Market Square (15 mins walk), Wavelem Castle (5 mins) Kasimeirz (15 mins)
Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone,

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view of the Castle

I stayed there for only one night, but it was very good and comfortable one ;-) The rooms are quite spacious (I had double for single use), with clean and fully-equipped bathroom. There is a sfae box and minibar and the room is equipped with flat TV and wi-fi is available (you get the access code at check-in together with your door card). The view from the top floor restaurant over Vistula and Wawel Castle is gorgeous. We had a firm party there and the food and drinks served thereine were excellent and very delicous.
Breakfast buffet available from 7 a.m., good choice of food, including eggs, cheese, cold cuts, fresh bread etc. Coffe, tea and milk are available as well.
Walking distance from the Old City and short drive from the train station (or a ride with the tram - stop right in front of the hotel).
I heard no noise from the street nor any other thigs disturbed my stay. fully recommendable.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at courtyard, then no traffic noice will be heard for sure.
