“Did you already have diner in a sauna or hamman?”
Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

Difficult to give an objective judgment about this restaurant.
If but for the food, I should give 4 instead of 1.
The tomato veloute with Polish noodles was correct and the chicken liver with apples was delicious. But no bread at all was offered with these appetizers.
The goose breast with pears and apples was also delicious and very tender. The beef tournedos with cherries and a cherry-vodka sauce was of good quality, but the "rare" cooking was almost "raw"...
But... We were seated on the open first floor, just above the restaurant entrance and in front of the airco/heating engine. During our meal the temperature reached absolutely unpleasant high temperatures forcing us to undress as much as possible. Despite several demands to lower the temperature, the answer was always the same: impossible. Only after main course, when we said that we would leave and skip dessert and coffee because of this sauna climate, temperature was suddenly turned down and almost ice-cold air was blown directly into our face. We hope that we won't be sick tomorrow.
Mixed feelings therefore. The food quality could justify the price of 240 Pln for this meal, but the unpleasant conditions made it a "never again" experience.
My advice: avoid absolutely being seated on the first floor!

“Lovely food, service not quite there”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Ate here on our first night in Krakow, the location is absolutely perfect and the decor makes for a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious - I had goose with pear, my other half had stuffed chicken breast - and although slightly more expensive than some of the other restaurants we visited in Krakow, still excellent value when compared to anywhere in the UK!! My only complaint would be that the staff, whilst perfectly polite and efficient, seemed a little disinterested in their customers. We were hoping for a recommendation of what to order, but the waiter just didn't seem that keen to explain the menu. Never mind, turns out it probably wouldn't have mattered what we ordered as it all looked and smelt delicious!

“Good Polish cuisine”
Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

Visited three times during our four day stay. On recommendation from a friend we ate here on our arrival to warm up. I had borscht with meat dumpling with a glass of stewed fruit juice, complete with the cherries and a piece of plum in the bottom. Partner had mushroom soup served in a loaf of bread. Thoroughly enjoyed it, warmed us up and got everything off to a good start!
Returned the day after for a main meal, I had fabulous chicken livers with apple followed by pork chop with sauerkraut and fried potatoes, partner had goose in a sauce which I've forgotten (it was a fruity based sauce) with dwarf apples. Couldn't eat anymore but we were given a plum donut as was day before lent :) I think when we arrived they saw we were cold and the radiator next to us was turned up for us which was nice.
Visited on final day for a light lunch, borscht again for both of us to warm up!
Quite a detailed analysis of each visit but done to show how much we enjoyed everything we had. My only criticism was that the staff although attentive weren't very smiley which is more important than you'd think. Would absolutely recommend, authentic traditional menu, lovely decoration and interesting music playing!

“Excellent, Polish Food!”
Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

In four days visited this wonderfully friendly restaurant situated in the main Krakow Square on two occasions. Very full on both trips, which was an indication of the high quality of food on offer, although there was a delay on one occasion in serving the main course. However, the wait was worth it because our meal was beautiful, and we visited again a couple of days later! Would recommend booking via your hotel, if staying in one, which saves a wasted trip and seeking out another suitable place to done!

“Good cheap food and great atmosphere.”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Ate here in January and we were not let down by it.

The food was mainly all of Polish decent. I had the Beef Tartar and the stuffed cabbage rolls for a main. The food was wonderful and everything you would expect from Polish food, tasty and incredibly filling! That being said the portions were just the right size, not too overpowering. And talk about cheap, I know Poland is cheap compared to the UK but me and my partner had a main and a starter and 2 drinks each all for under £20, and that was smack bang in the middle of the tourist area, and this was not no 2 for 1 pub grub either, this was all freshly made Polish fayre.

The atmosphere was great it was a Saturday night in Old Town Krakow and Everyone one was having a nice evening, no rowdy punters at all, mainly just locals and more pleasant tourists. There was a band playing folk music too which also added to the ambience of the place.

Great place, and if I am ever in Krakow again, I will eat here without hesitation.
