This apartment-style hotel is about 10-15mins walk from Krakow glowny train station,
You would need to pass by the shopping mall and walk along pawia, followed-by Westerplatte (heading towards the south direction) then turn left at Mikotaja Zyblikiewicza street.

Hotel room is clean and comfy.
Receptionist is knowledgeable and helpful.
Definitely recommend this hotel to couples or travelling with a group of friends.

Arrived in Krakow on a wet dark night via taxi from airport with advice from taxi drivers advice saying be careful of Romanian pickpockets.

was dropped off at The Siesta apart-hotel expecting basic and clean but when we arrived we were a bit shocked to see from the outside it looked like something from the second world war! When we went in we went into the reception which was a little room up some stairs with a dim light in it and was greeted by a young lady called Anna which was very pleasant and very helpful.
We checked in and went upstairs to our room on the 3rd floor. we were amazed as we went up the stairs to see there was no carpet on the steps at all but instead were just very well worn stone underfoot. There was no wallpaper or paint on most of the walls and on two walls there was a large amount of bricks missing from the wall.( a bit horrible really). We entered our room and although we were told that it had been recently renovated, it did look like it had a lick of paint however it had an old parquet floor that had been varnished and had no carpet on it but did have sharp edges which seemed a health and safety issue. It had been mopped but there were streaks in a few places
The bathroom had been renovated but the boiler was too low and you banged yourself on it when exiting the shower...Another health and safety thing?
We looked out of the window to look at the view!!! skips and builders, look at the photos to follow!
Also something very very alarming was the very large windows were low opening and although they opened very wide, there were no window stays and a child or an adult for that matter could easily fall out.... Very wrong!
The bedding and towels were clean and the apartment although it seemed very dated, seemed clean.
When i turned the tv on it wouldn't work, neither would the wi-fi which was very important to receive my business emails( the wi-fi not the tv), i went straight downstairs to inquire how to work them both. I was told by a very apologetic Anna that she couldn't help until someone came tomorrow.

On the 3rd night of a 5 night stay, due to the advice given to us by the taxi driver, i had hidden some money in the room so as not to lose everything if i was pick-pocketed. I went to replenish my wallet and found out that £1000 had been taken from our room
.There was a card on the door that said unless hung on the door for the cleaners to clean the room, the room would not be cleaned. As we had money hidden in the room, we didn't ask for the room cleaning however..... it had indeed been cleaned without us asking.

we informed reception about the theft who said it wasn't possible and clearly didn't believe us, then they asked us to return to the property later on the following afternoon to speak with the manager and the police which we did.
The police interviewed two cleaners and also us in the company of the manager who was genuinely upset and extremely helpful. But as the police didn't speak English, we were asked to go to the police station whereby we would have to wait for a minimum of 5 hours for an interpreter to join us, then it could be any length of time after that.
As we already had trips arranged and paid for we were in a lose lose situation and decided not to miss the trips which we had particularly come to see consequently the staff could not be further questioned and we could not claim on our insurance.

The manager asked us why we didnt put it into the hotel safe, when we replied that it didnt say that there was one in the hotel information booklet, she said that she thoght that there was.
We took a phot of the info booklet, and there wasnt.

we told the hotel of someone we saw lingering in the hotel the day before and suggested to view the CCTV, but we were told that the CCTV was run by an outside company and we couldn't view it?!?!? when we started looking in our room to see if someone had hidden the stolen money to collect at a later time, we actually found that under the furniture it was quite dirty as it hadn't been cleaned, the manager saw this and was very genuinely apologetic.

We went on our pre arranged trips and upon our return the manager had left a nice box of chocolates in our room...not a lot but bless her, we were in Poland and she tried.

An odd thing about the CCTV situation was that, when i went round and took photos of the stone steps, bare wall with bricks missing, rough parquet floor and the hotel information that dosnt mention the use of a safe at all.and the view of the skips, i also took photos of the CCTV remote cameras, and oddly enough, they were covering every floor apart from the one covering the entrance to our room..... The wires were there, but the camera had been moved? mmm?

please look at our other reviews, this and those are not written with emotion but just with facts to help others as the reviews we read help us.

As we don't know who stole the money we can only write about the facts and they are....

The positives are the staff are very helpful.
although breakfast is about 400 yards away, its continental but very clean and filling.

the Aparthotel is only 5 mins walk from the market place where it is quite lovely.

although we made our own arrangements re the tours, the hotel staff are more than willing to advise and help book them for you.

The negatives apart from the money going missing is that you genuinely feel like your on a movie set from Schindler's List ... the movie. Really.
i'll try to upload some pics.

Would we stay here again? never.
The lovely staff deserve better and i hope someone in the hotel business reads this review and poaches them.

Room Tip: try another hotel, there's plenty to choose from

Dear guests,
your detailed opinion surprised us so much. We remember this situation very well and still cannot find the explanation. Police officers, who came immediately to our hotel, did not find any suspicious facts connected with your stolen money. They even excluded our participation in this situation.

We always try to provide the best standard of our service for our guests. Our rooms are clean and comfortable. You were staying in a quadruple apartment because you had a longer stay and we wanted to make your stay comfortable. Aparthotel Siesta is situated in an old tenement house, directly in the old city centre. In the past, during the second world war, Poland was a centre of conflict. Your comparison to the film "Shindlers' list" hurts our feelings. We think that you are a little bit unfair.

We have checked your opinion history on TripAdvisor. The hotels you have chosen before had much higher standard and prices than Aparthotel Siesta. After visiting such exclusive hotels everyone would have higher expectations.

However we appreciate the positive comments about our staff. We always try to do our best to make your stay unforgettable. Although we know that in your case you will remember only negative experience. We truly hope that you will return to Kraków again to enjoy this beautiful city.

Kind regards,
Magdalena Kmita

There was no kitchen, the room was beside the reseption and very noisy.Instead of salong there was two kitchen chairs.
Smoke from the basement. The bed was very low. We had paid for three days, we asked for another room but that was not possible. The second day we moved to a serious hotel.we could not get any money back.

Dear Kristin B,
I am very sad reading your comment about Aparthotel Siesta. I feel that you have treated us really unfair without describing any actions we took to solve your problem.

The name "Aparthotel" does not mean that we offer only apartments. In the describtion of Aparthotel Siesta you have information about standard rooms with basic equipment and deluxe appartments with kitchen access and other facilities. However the deluxe appartments have a little higher price.

You have right about the room next to the reception. We are very sorry, but we really could not change you a room at the day of your arrival. We offered you another room, next day in the morning, but you did not accepted our offer. You did not wanted any solution beyond returning back the money despite of your reservation was non-refundable. From our side we kept all the terms.

I am very sad, that we did not cope your expectations. However I hope that you enjoyed your stay in Kraków.

Kind regards,
Magdalena Kmita

Arrived late at night. Had to climb 8 flights of stairs with full luggage. Got the loft room that had warnings to not open windows if its raining. Wasn't the cleanest and crawling to bed was not our idea of a hotel room. We were supposed to stay 6 nights but only stayed 2 and went elsewhere for a much better quality and at a similar price. Staff were lovely but I wouldn't stay here again. I saw it as perhaps 2 star or one star above backpacker lodgings.

Dear Brenda C,

Thank you for your priceless comments. We are really sorry that the room you got didn't meet your expectations, nevertheless our Aparthotel offers range of different kind of rooms to choose from. We have deluxe rooms which are a little bit more expensive, but are more specious with kitchen access and some other facilities. Maybe another time you will give them a go?
We provide the bellboy services 12 hours in a day. Unfortuantely you arrived very late, after his working hours.
The warning not to open the window while it's raining was only because it was a roof window. If it wouldn't be closed, there could be water in the room.
However, I hope that you enjoyed our beautiful Kraków and will come back here some time.

Kind regards,
Magdalena Kmita

Stayed here with a friend between 13th November 2013 and 16th November 2013.

Stayed in the family room, which had 2 single beds on a raised loft space and a double bed in the main area of the room. There was low head room for the two single beds however I'm 5'9" and managed to avoid cracking my head once, the stairs / steps are a little daunting if you've had a drink but otherwise ok.

There was a shower ensuite, which had towels and was clean and tidy.

Overall the room was more than adequate for our needs, it was clean and tidy with no problems, Wi-Fi was included and no problems with that either.

Using another "aparthotel" in the future is definitely on the cards after the quality experience we had here.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and spacious. They provided free sparkling water each day and quickly offered more when I asked. There was also a water station at the reception when we ran out water. The 24-hr reception was great and the staff was always friendly and helpful. They also offered a useful tourist map of the city.

The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance to the train / bus station and close to the historical sites. I would stay here if I ever Krakow again.

This is a great place to stay it's basically just like having your own studio flat in the city. It is located in an old townhouse set over 4 floors in a quiet street 5 minutes walk from the main square. The staff are great and you get a good sized room with a kingsize bed and a modern bathroom. The best thing for me was having 2 nice comfy armchairs in the room with a coffee table to relax after a day of walking. The bed linen was very nice, good sheets plus 2 quilts and a blanket. If you wanted heat just turn the radiator on and instant warmth. The room had a kettle with tea and coffee plus mineral water and all toiletries were supplied, if you needed anything they would give you it straight away. Another big plus was having a standard UK plug point, ethernet point and WiFi. The room was absolutely silent at night you could hear a pin drop. The only thing some people might not like is the stairs but I'm sure they would try and put you lower down if you asked. Their is a 24 hour reception located but unless you go in there you don't see anyone which I like, just come and go as you please. The room was also cleaned everyday if you wanted it. Great place, would stay again, much better standard than the hotels in the same price range.
