“Great food in nice garden setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

We enjoyed a dinner with friends and tried out several dishes. We started with a choice of tasty Polish dumplings and had either fish or goose for the main course. The service in English was fast and friendly. The garden setting was nice having some fresh night breeze at that day. It's an ideal place to end your excursion thru the Jewish quarter with plenty of interesting sights.

“In center of square.”

Book ahead if you are a large party and want to sit outside. We ate inside with no air conditioning. Food was fine. Waitress spoke English well

“Food on a plank!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

Beginning with a perfect mojito - polish vodka and apple - we could have stayed at Szara in the Krakow Square all night. The Saturday summer evening had everyone out and in the mood for enjoyment. The food was innovative and tasty - many meals were served on a plank -oak perhaps? - including my salmon, asparagus and potatoes! Delicious! Fireworks capped off a perfect dinind experience.

“Good restaurant in the Jewish quarter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

Even if this restaurant is in the middle of the most touristy area in the Jewish Quarter it is in my opinion one of the better. You get the feeling of being in a french brasserie in Paris.
Very good and tasty food. Large portions. The lunch deal 2 courses for 29 zloty is an excellent deal.
Beside the main menu, it seems like they always have special menus with fresh ingredients of the season. A lot of asparagus dishes when visited in May.
They provide high chair for children and I think they had a children menu as well.
Would love to come back.

“Unbelievable!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2013

Located in the Jewish quarter the sister restaurant to Szara on the main square was recommended by the management of our apartment. It is located on a square with many other restaurants with prix-fixe menus. The menu is 29pln (about 7.50€), from 12 noon -5Pm for two courses and it is a great value for the quality, service and atmosphere. We chose the sheep milk cheese (oscypek) with cranberry and the barley soup for our starters. The cheese was sliced into squares, seared had a lovely browned crust and was warm in the center. The barley soup was flavorful and had plenty of mushrooms. Other starters included borscht with dumplings and herring. For the main courses we chose mixed Polish meats and the breaded cod. The cod (two ample pieces) were perfectly cooked with a thin, fine bread crumb crust and was served with dill dusted boiled potatoes and pickled beet root. The mixed meat platter included high quality kielbasa, pork neck and bacon and was served with horseradish and mustard. Other main course offerings included veal tongue, pork chops and pierogis. You also receive a basket of home baked bread, butter and crudités with you meal. The house wine is offered for 10 pln (about 2.50€), if you order from the special menu. Service was exceptional! Wonderful overall experience and highly recommended!
