“Nice hotel, good location”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Perfect location if you want to visit Jasna Gora Monastery, in front of this complex. Close to pedestrian street. Helpful and kind staff. Room was clean & comfortable. Weak air conditioning in the room. Breakfast selection was huge & delicious. Extra charge: breakfast 12 EUR per person, private parking 10 EUR per night. The parking place easy to use.

However it is the best hotel in Częstochowa (location counts the most!) it is no more than an average place. Let's mention just biurocratic and slowish reception (one needs to be patient), noisy AC in rooms (but good it is working because street is noisy and it is better to keep the window closed), unreliable wifi (works or not), expensive carpark (but you can leave the car for free behind the hotel - after 6pm no charge, not guarded of course). Restaurant is relatively expensive but satisfying.

Only location, both close to the monastery and to the down town could be the strength of this hotel. The rest is unsatisfied. The room, I had, was very small, with noisy and ineffective AC, the window curtains in terrible orange colour, not helping for sleeping in the summer sunny morning and bed with huge and useless for me pillow. The staff tries to be helpful, not always with the good result. The breakfast was very standardised, poor looking and not encouraging for eating.
Paradoxically, Ibis Czestochowa, the second hotel of Accor Group in this town, rated with two stars only, seems to me, as a much better option for lodging.

If somebody goes to the sanctuary, this hotel is simply in front of it and close to the main sites of the city. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom is good. The problems I found were the breakfast is not that good and the staff isn't very polite, except those who work in the kitchen.

I stayed here for 5 nights on a business trip. I had stayed here last year as well so I knew what I was coming to. The hotel is quite drab and depressing. The whole hotel has a 1980s look and is in need of a major face-lift. My 5th floor room was in the front of the hotel with a busy street (lots of traffic) below. As the air conditioner did not work in my room I had to open the windows to get some relief from the warm weather. This increased the noise significantly. A room at the back of the hotel (that I had last year) would have been considerably quieter. On the plus side the hotel has a great location. It is right around the corner from a major shopping street that has a number of surprisingly good restaurants. It is also only a few minutes walk to Jasna Gora Monastery (Poland's major pilgrimage site). I doubt that there is a hotel in Czestochowa with a better location - I tolerate it for the location. Czestochowa does not have a lot of hotel choices so you might not find much better in town.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back of the hotel so you are not facing a busy and noisy street,

The Mercure/Accor company has bought the Orbis hotel chain in Poland soon after the 1989 collapse. Unfortunately the only change has been a quick refurbish of the lobby, the outside sign and of the rooms, never the less the look has remained pretty much the same of the old days. Furniture and building are quite old looking although well mantained and still decent but the "feel" of the old days and the sense of "oppression" is still there. Breakfast and main meals are served in the same restaurant, food is decent. The rooms are not too spacious but roomy enough, there are also some small executive suites available. Beds are not so comfortable but still at an average level, ask for a room facing the back of the building, the front area is too noisy for the main road cars and traffic. WI FI is available free of charge in the rooms and in the lobby, a recent upgrade. Closed/guarded but open air parking lot is available in front of the hotel. A mere 300 meters away, uphill on the right there is the only concentration of restaurants of the really poor "scene" of Czestochowa. Unfortunately at present this is the best choice in Czestochowa.
