PROS - quiet location, lovely gardens, nice Spa, friendly staff, onsite restaurants, 5 minuts taxi ride to Auschwitz; great value for money

CONS - the spa would be even better with a swimming pool added.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. We were there to visit Auschwitz the concentrationcamp.
Auswitz and Birkenau are nearby the hotel so that is very good attainable.

We had a great room, it was nice and big with a separate 'livin room' and a big balcon. I think we had an upgrade.
The food in the Italian restaurant was also nice. Nothing special but nice taste! It was a low price for the food.

The the we arrived we want to use the Spa and Wellnes because we had a long journey that day but it was closed till the 6th of januari. We though it was just closed one day.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Huge rooms. Nice music in the toilet, coffee and tea making facilities. It felt almost like home! Free and secure car park. 2 Restaurants and a SPA. We had dinner in the traditional Polish restaurant and loved it. Nice food and very good portions. The breakfast was also very good. The only less positive aspect of this hotel was that the heating in the rooms was slightly insufficient for the cold winter. Can be resolved with a good air con system. If you want to visit the death camps than this is the best place to stay specially if you are driving.

We were initially impressed with the newer part of the facility where our two rooms were located. The rooms are more than spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms are great! The rooms have just about every modern convenience. The restaurant is nice, the food good and the wait staff was pleasant and helpful.

That being said, we had problems. Actually, we encountered potentially life threatening conditions of which you need to be aware.

At 2 am, my young son needed pain medication from the car. ( dislocated elbow- different town. Car was parked right outside the front door) My husband went to get it, took the room key but never came back! After a while, I got concerned. I took the elevator down to the bottom floor to check thinkgs out and noticed that all the doors were closed. Being concerned about being locked out and not being able to get back in, I took the elevator back up to the room, dressed my son and went to search for my husband. We took the elevator down to the bottom floor and I had my son hold open the door to elevator while I opened the door from the small hallway where the elevator was located to look out into the lobby and there was my husband - stranded! He was locked IN the building!! Yes, LOCKED IN!! He couldn't get out to even go to the front desk to ask for assistance. He was also LOCKED OUT of the rest of the building - stuck in between 2 locked doors in a lobby area. No room key/card swipe machines to open locked doors. By this time, he had been stuck in the lobby for about 30 minutes. He had been able to get the attention of the lone security guard by repeatedly turning on and off the outside lights as well as the fountain! The security guard had to unlock the outside door to enable my husband to go to the car but, did not unlock the door to the elevator area. AND, he locked the outside door again and walked away before my husband realized that he could not get into the elevator area. Luckily I went looking for him! In the morning when we spoke to the front desk, they told us that they lock the doors at night to protect the guests! In an emergency, you cannot get out of the building! You are locked in and only the security guard can let you in and out. We explained to them that in case of a fire or other emergency, guests have no way of exiting the building other than to jump off of the balconies. If guests decend in the elevator or stairway, they find themselves trapped in locked areas from which they have no escape. Their response was that the guests from all the floors could find their way to an elevated corrider that connects the new building to the old building. If guests are trapped in that locked in/locked out lobby area, they can't get to the walkway. Additionaly, in an emergency or in a building filled with smoke and fire, it would be impossible for guests who did not try to exit by going down to the first floor to find their way to an elevated walkway.

Bottom line - nice facility but beware, they need to change their proceedures and exit doors need to swing out, not in and if locked, doors need to open out to let guests exit in emergencies. A card swipe for guests, permitting access after hours would make sense and possibly save lives.

The front desk's reponse to our discussion of the incident was to take $10 off of our bill!! They said that it was a newer facility and that there were some bugs that needed to be worked out. "Bugs" like that need to be worked out before opening a facility to the general public. Such a shame too because it has potential. The front desk should be more responsive to customers.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we was wasn't disappointed. This hotel is clean and tidy and our room was nice. Bedding and towels changed everyday. The food served was also very nice, my only complaint and it's not a huge problem was the slowness of the bar staff. They seem more keen in chatting with each other than taking down our order for food/drinks, a couple of times we had to ask where some of our order was as they had forgotten to bring it out. Overall very nice.
