If you seen any other Polish ethnographical park you're not going to be surprised here. It's a good value, you can easily spend here two hours walking and watching those houses. But during coronavirus restrictions it's just boring - there are only simple descriptions of each house (in Polish), you cannot go into any of the rooms just peek through a glass from the main house's corridor, there's no staff to tell you anything or anyone if you have any questions yourself. Simply boring - just a nice park to spend 1-2 hours.
This is a very interesting ethnographic park and open-air museum. There are historic buildings, cottages, homesteads, barns, churches, gardens, rural school even village outhouses.Come to walk, learn, relax and be amazed.
From the 18th century to the 20th century, a very good open museum, similates life once upon a time. Lots of old buildings, a school with a teacher who teaches caligraphy, a windmill etc. Everything is very well made, with guides in traditional costumes. A nice coffee break in the middle of the route, and soup at the end, made the experience even better.
What an amazing place. Gorgeous architecture and garden from a selection of authentic wind mills water mills, church, and houses + some new-build as per originals. an enormous amount of work has gone into preserving this ensemble of rare beauty and simplicity. What is left is a rare feeling of romantic simplicity and raw elegance. Gorgeous.
We went as a group of4 adults and 2 children (3,5 years and 3,5 months). The place is big which makes a wonderful long walk among the little houses by which you make stops and learn how people in Poland used to live. As it is open air - try to plan a trip on a nice sunny day and you will enjoy it a lot!
Apart from the houses and exhibitions inside there are also fee stops with farm animals: sheep, horses, ducks, chickens which kids can enjoy a lot.
Another great feature is a little cafe where you can order something to drink (based on herbs as well as regular tea/coffee) and cakes. I had Rose Lemonade and it was delicious!
What would make the place excellent: 1) shows (people dressed up as they used to working on the farm or showing how people lived), and maybe a better restaurant by the entrance (it was good but average with Polish cuisine).
Point for descriptions in English and German!
Great place to see not only the old houses from XIX century but also the interior design of these homes. Best to visit during summer months where you can see the beautiful flowers blooming in the front yards and the horses roaming around. Skansen is also a home to a few old windmills. Worth to visit if you like the old countryside. Great for kids.
