“A must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

If you enjoy visiting gothic castles then Malbork is a must see! It's the largest brick castle in Europe!! I enjoyed my visit with a tour group so we had a local English speaking guide. Portable audio guides are also available in several languages. The castle was built by the Teuton Knights in the 13th century but was almost completely destroyed in WW2. The Polish people went through the rubble brick by brick & rebuilt the castle to its former glory. Additional bricks were handmade using the 13th century technique to add in the restoration. There are several reasonably priced gift shops outside along with food & drinks available. The public restrooms are very clean & have a small fee. It's a beautiful castle & definitely worth the trip.

“Stunning”

If you want to see the largest Europe's gothic castle then go to Malbork. It covers a huge complex of buildings including the medium and high castle. You can visit it with a guide or alone with audioguide. It also houses the amber museum and some other displays such as various archeological finds. In summer they also organize the Light and Sound sessions outside the castle, although the area in front of the castle was under the reconstruction in the spring. Definitely a must if you intend to visit northern Poland.

“Could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

Its a nice castle and a good one day trip with cheap entry (~25zt). Negative: most signs in the castle lacked English text so a lot of interesting information was lost to us. Also, at the train station no one spoke English so getting back to Gdansk was harder then expected.

If you want to see the largest Gothic castle in the world, see Malbork, Poland (from the name Marienburg> Mary castle)
From 1309 It was the seat of the great Master order . The reception Room is impressive with its ceiling and 3 great pillars. (note: the Norwegian help at 60% to renovate). To see... Even hav been on a monday, so no museum, we were realy please with what we saw for 8zl

“Malbork castle well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

The price for visiting the castle was not high if you compare with the costs for visiting castles in other parts of EU. We joined a group with a an english speaking guide for a three hour guided tour. The tour was really very interesting, the whole family agreed including the teenagers. It is the largest castle in EU with a very interesting history which will be told in detail if you hire a guide. The few extra euros for a english speaking guide was a good investment, strongly recommended.
The day of our visit there was a market outside, most things for sale were very cheap with one exception the food. Be aware that the price for the meat is per weight it is not the full price.
