“If you love your food and your in Gdansk, this place is a must.”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

We visited Kubicki's on valentines day as we have family here so dont usually get out much when in Gdansk, but we noticed this restaurant after doing a check on trip advisor and wanted to do something on valentines day. many reviews were positive and so we thought it was worth a shot.

customer service was on a whole new level at this place, everything on the menu sounded delicious making our decisions even harder to which the waiter gave us suggestions. we intended to go for a three course meal and we left barely being able to walk. we knew we wanted a starter each to share with one of them being Pierogi and the other was Herring, however the waiter informed us that they have soused (aka maatjes) herring, which is essentially young herring from Holland, we usually enjoy herring as a starter but this was on a new level and definitely worth getting if your a herring fan. otherwise for the non fish people, get some pierogi's they are home made and as good as it gets in Poland.

after getting through the starters and having a nice chat with the waiter sipping on a nice glass of spanish wine, he suggested that he tell the chef to hold off on the mains for 10 minutes while we digest, we could not have been happier as we were pretty filled up and were in no rush to leave, this really contributed to a nice laid back atmosphere and truly allowed us to enjoy our meal.

the mains came out and we got the aged beef steak and the wild boar, we shared and concluded the wild boar with plum type sauce was the winner however the steak was not far behind, with its home made pepper sauce that was in a league of its own. in all honesty you cant really go wrong with whichever meal you pick as they were both truly amazing.

After being ridiculously full we still decided to share one desert between both of us (waiters recommendation too as he knew the size of the cake), this came with a side of whipped cream and ice cream and a hot cherry sauce that was poured on top, if you like a nice home made style polish cheese cake you must have this desert it is much lighter in taste than it looks and is perfect after ordering one of the mains. we followed this up with a traditional polish plum liqueur served at -30 degrees, could not have finished this meal off any better than with a nice espresso.

all in all the atmosphere is truly amazing, it gives nice warming modern feel while keeping true to its traditional heritage. the customer service has been the best I have experienced in a long while and the polish aren't the greatest at customer service either so this was a truly pleasant experience. The food is second to none. The price is definitely higher than most other places, but in saying that this is not most other places and is worth of penny (or Zloty) just make sure to make a reservation as this place does look like it feels up at dinner (we went for lunch on a work day so skipped the busy period).

“Try this it is truly very good!”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Have recently been to Gdansk and dined in the Restuarant Kubicki. Its is first class, the decor is very good, the service helpful, polite and attentive and the food just fantastic! They offer traditional meals freshly prepared and cooked to order and a very extensive selection of Vodkas. We tried other restuarants but returned to this one on several occaisions as it was just so good. The value is amazing. Would recomend you try.

“One of the oldest restaurants in Gdansk”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Restaurant is really nice refurbised old and modern style are fitting very well. Food is really great especially galantines which are not in the main menu. It is placed very close to old town and looking at the river. Waiters are very irritiating. I think it is good place for busines dinner as well as for romantic evening.
