My wife and I had a beautiful short stay at this hotel in late September.
The room - big, clean, comfortable. Excellent bed and matresses (we had two separate beds connected into one, the same with mattresses). Actually it was the best quality mattress we had ever slept on.
The location - the hotel is in the heart of Gdansk. 10 minutes away from the main streets of teh Old Town. Perfect.
We had rooms and the lowest level and right next to a busy street. The wondows are great. We did not hear any noise. Summer time? Don't worry, there's air conditioning so the noise is out of the question.
The hotel - it is gorgeous. The Dom Muzyka (the Musician's House) is all about music and you can feel it at once. The pictures along the corridors, the pictures in the rooms, the dining room filled with musical accessories and pictures, the menu shown as a concert booklet, even the carpets contain little motifs of musical instruments. You wish you were an artist yourself :)
The service - the front desk clerks and restaurant staff are ok. But we were astonished by Elzbieta, the lady who prepared scrambled eggs (she does that standing in front of everyone in the dining room). She served us a perfect meal and a heavens-like smile that changed our mood for the rest of the day. Unforgettable. Definitely the best professional of the place.

The Dom Muzyka Hotel is worth every price.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms located at the side of the parking/backyard. Some are charged extra though.

The reviews in tripadvisor are not wrong. We had a deluxe room facing the big inner yard and you really have to try to find things to improve. The AC made some sound every now and then. The shower was fairly small and I can imagine that for someone above 100 kg it would be a bit tight place to squeese. Beds were bit on the hard side. The person responsible for the breakfast had ate a lemon. Or several. Both mornings.

But overall the experience was very positive. Short walk to the city (we even walked from the airport bus to the hotel just to get the feeling of the city), bakery and corner store a block away, decent restaurant which is open until 23.00. The bus to westerplatte leaves just outside the hotel and there's plenty of trams going to the railway station if you do not feel like walking. The staff at the reception was always helpful regardless of the question.

However I do believe that those that stay on the side facing the major road into the city may feel differently.

I think if you are looking for a convenient place to stay you can do much worse than the Dom Muzyka. A short walk into the historic old town and also right next to the tram line that will take you to Gdanska Glowna (the station). Although much like other cities in Poland ask how to get tickets, it is never well explained (there are quite a few info desks in the city centre). I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and with a good command of English so I felt able to ask them anything. The breakfast was delicious with a buffet (check-out the pancakes) and a chef to do hot dishes to order. The room was a large twin and was clean. The bathroom was also well maintained, modern and comfortable. Voices did seem to carry somewhat in the long corridors at night. My room was inside the courtyard which was quiet, I can imagine the side overlooking the main road was anything but, so perhaps request the courtyard when you book.

The only downside for me was the lunchbox option when I had to check out early before breakfast. A small carton of apple juice, a small apple and a strong smelling cheese and kielbasa sandwhich was not appealing. Although this wouldnt be so much of a problem if you arrange travel to have the breakfast. Would come back should I be in Gdansk again.

This hotel is in a very convenient location for both the old town and transport links. Very clean and well maintained. If you have a choice of room request one overlooking the courtyard as ours overlooked the road and tram lines and was extremely noisy. A note about breakfast, when we were booking we only got a room only option although other reviewers raved about the complimentary breakfast. You can have breakfast at a cost of 20zlt, about £2, but it wasn't worth having and we had better breakfasts away from the hotel at a lesser cost.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the courtyard

10 min walk to old town. Small shops nearby. Bank not far away. Bar. Clean rooms. :) Good service. Helpful staff who speaks english. Good breakfast. Pc with internet in the lobby for hotel guests. Bench outside the hotel where you can sit. Been here 2 times with family, and we're gonna book this hotel the next time we go to Gdansk.....! :) (Stayed here summer 2009 and 2010)
