“Good clean 4* Hotel with Welcoming Reception Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2012

We have recently travelled to Gdansk for a couple of nights as a Couple. I contacted the hotel before arrival to enquire about transport from Airport and found the Reception staff to be very helpful. I was advised that there is an Airport Shuttle that stops directly outside the Mercure Hotel and runs to and from the Airport. The cost for this was 9,90 Polish Ziloty per person. You can get the Bus 210 from the airport for just 3,40 ziloty per person. This is then a 5 min walk to the Hotel and is easy to get to as the Hotel is one of the highest buildings in Gdansk and you can see the sign.(So cant get lost) The Hotel provided us with Coffee and Tea making facilities, although we had to ask for more of both these as only one of each although abut 10 sugar satchets?? The Hotel were very obiliging though and more were happily provided. You also receive a complimentary bottle of water on arrival. The beds were large and comfortable, although only 1 small thin pillow provided, again asked for more and again these were provided. The bathroom was small but housed a great shower. We ate in the Hotel Restaurant on the first night as too cold to venture out. The soup was lovely , hot and came with 2 small bread rolls each. Unfortunately the main did not live up to the same standard and was served tepid and meat was quite rubbery on both our meals. Breakfast was good and you had access to cereals, toast, cold meats, cheese, pastries, yoghurts. There was also some cooked items but again these were cold. The hotel was positioned near Madison which is like an indoor shopping centre and a short walk to the old town.Overall a Good Clean Hotel and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Smoking rooms are still available to book

Stayed here in December for a birthday weekend. A big plus for this hotel is that the airport shuttle bus starts and finishes outside this hotel, The public areas of the hotel are very sleek and modern, as are the rooms. Only criticism of the rooms is that the rooms are quite small. Breakfast was fine, with a good selection of hot and cold dishes.

Location is good for shopping, train station and is about 7-8 minutes walk from the main street.

Would recommend and would stay again

We stayed for a few days in Gdansk and found the hotel to be perfectly adaquate for our stay. The views of historic Gdansk from the hotel made it well worth the price we paid which was very good for a 4 star hotel in central Gdansk. Only a very short walk from the hotel are shopping areas and the old town itself. If we return to Gdansk we will book this hotel again.

Room Tip: Definitely the higher the hotel room the better the view. Get a room facing the old town for a very...

Nice property, really close to the Madison shopping mall, close to tourist sights, restaurants, train station and nightlife. First night of our stay we ate at the hotel restaurant, which was not top notch. We were really disappointed about the tiny portions and mediocre food and ended up going to another restaurant to eat. This specific night there was a reception with bunches of people in the main restaurant, so probably because of that there was big pressure in the kitchen. Some friends ate at the restaurant next day, ordered about the same things and got totally different food and loved it.

Anyway, rooms were really nice, really close to the seaside walk, with nice restaurants, close to the bar Barbados, which was packed with people, and good for the person who wants to enjoy the nightlife..

Breakfast buffet was great. Had some problems with Internet and mini-bar was locked at first day. Called, and 1 minute later there was someone at the door. great service.. always happy people at the front desk .. recommended !

Only thing, last day the hotel recommended (and insisted) we took a taxi service to the airport which ended up costing 30 Zloty more than the ordinary taxi.. Hotel said about 60 zloty, but the taxi driver asked for 90 .. bad..

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for the New Year celebrations. We had a room on the 9th floor overlooking the Old Town. It was a lovely view. The room was average size warm and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The shower was lovely and big and always had plenty of hot water. Due to our flight times being changed by Ryan Air we arrived quite late but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, we had a lovely hot baguette and a beer a perfect start to our break. In our room was left a complimentary bottle of bubbly.... A very kind thought, it certainly made us feel welcome.
The bed was comfy maybe one or two more pillows would have been better, but had we asked I am sure they would have provided more.
We were given our room until 5pm on the day of our departure at no extra cost .... another kind gesture on behalf of the hotel.
Nothing was too much trouble if you have any queries or need directions etc they are always more than happy to help.
The Old Town is a short walk with numerous pubs and restaurants, too many to mention. We tried many different ones and all were just lovely. One of my favourite was Goldwasser on the Marina, a little more expensive at £13 or 69plz for a beautiful pepper steak with all the trimmings.
Local beer is lovely. .
New Year celebrations were amazing concert and fireworks, a true spectacle.
We can’t wait to return once again

Room Tip: A room overlooking the Old Town is lovely

The hotel is scenically located and convenient to the mall, old town. Close to the airport to drive your rental car. Staff VERY helpful and attentive. Morning buffet great - lots of choices and very well maintained (clean)/well stocked.

Room Tip: Higher floors better view BUT south side a little warm - AC will kick in - eventually. Go to dinner...
