“Fabulous hotel and excellent value for money”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights with my girlfriend at the end of January and had a really fantastic stay. From the airport we travelled to the city centre by bus. The journey lasted about 30 minutes and our tickets cost us a total of 6 zloty (the equivalent of £0.60 each). From where the boss dropped us off we had an additional 5 minute walk to get to the hotel which is situated perfectly with plenty of cafes, bars, etc. in close proximity. Upon arrival we were checked-in by the friendly and helpful staff without experiencing any complications or difficulties. Our bedroom was very clean, bright, and comfortable, and the ensuite was perfect. Although we heard the church bells from across the road every so often, we didn't consider them loud or obtrusive, and generally there wasn't much noise. The hotel bar / restaurant was really pleasant with good, friendly, smiling service, and generally there was nice atmosphere in the place. Food and drinks were good and very good value for money. When we checked-out, again the staff were helpful and efficient, and they organised our taxi to the airport, costing us approximately 60 zloty (£12). All in all, we had a really good stay and were very impressed with this excellent hotel - we would highly recommend it to others!

We stayed here for a city break in December. The room was compact but very modern and comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. The shower extremely powerful. We found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We did not eat in the Mon Balzac restaurant but we did spend the end of the evenings there having a drink and enjoying the live music. The place was always very busy and seemed popular with locals. The cost of our stay for 2 people for 3 nights worked out at £100 which was excellent value. The hotel is in a super location within the old town with everything on your doorstep. Would definately recommend and would stay again.

Room Tip: The church bells can wake you up so if this would bother you ask for a room to the rear. We found i...

Nice hotel with helpful staff. Clean rooms, nice breakfast. A bit troublesom with elevator and finding right floor. We stayed 3 in each room and they were spacious. The hotel is in a perfect location. The bar/restaurant Mon Balzac in the hotel had live music and was a nice place both to start and end the evening.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep with a window open the rooms to the street is not ideal. A bit noisy when bars...

very modern and comfortable hotel in perfect location. service was efficient and everyone was friendly and helpful. great modern facilities. hotel also offers spa services which sometimes is a very nice addition. they're at extra cost but the souna was included in the price of the room. the hotel does not have its own dinning rooms but there is a lovely restaurant bistro Balzac just next door where breakfast is available. would definately recommend.

A perfect hotel in a perfect location, right in the heart of the main Town- this is the main tourist area. The rooms are very tastefully decorated with laptop safes too. As the Artus is in the heart of things you can expect some noise from the tourists and locals, but this wasn't so loud that it kept us awake. At 8 o'clock the bells from St mary's church across the road start there hourly 'song', but you soon get used to this and forget about it. There is no AC in the hotel and as we were there in September it was not a problem.
Our shower had a problem with leaking water from underneath and covered the bathroom floor with water. We spoke to the reception staff about this, also we asked for a second pillow. We were told that the following day the shower wouild be fixed and we would have the extra pillow requested, well nothing happened. We mentioned this on several occasions and it was not fixed the full week we were there. In the end we had to stuff a towell into the side of the shower basin to keep the floor dry. We had breakfast in the hotel only on one occasion and it was good, the restaurant is also open to the public and is of high standard. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about public transport.
One of the best things about this hotel is that is it usually only 5 minutes from restaurant/bar to your bed! If I was in Gdansk again I'd definately use it again.

Room Tip: If a little noise is a problem, then request a room at the back of the hotel

A clean and nicely decorated hotell rooms. We had a room that faced the St. Mary's church and were woken by church-bells at 8 am every morning. I'd suggest getting a room that don't face the street. Or travel in the winter so you can have the windows closed - there are no air-condition in the hotel rooms. At least not in the one we got. The breakfast is small but ok. Not too comfy eating breakfast in what used to be a bare until a few hours later, but it works. The hotel has its own little spa-place in the basement, that's ok.

And that what's up with this hotel; everything is ok. Nobody, perhaps except the cleaners, does an effort. They just do what they have to do do, and that's it. Its not an expensive hotel, so I guess it's not necessary that the receptionist thanks you for your visit and wishes you a nice day, but it would be nice though.

The Artus is located in a good central location, close to the main streets and to the river. The room was average size and clean. The breakfast was good, however a little repetitive. We also went there for dinner one night and the food was fine. The only thing was the street noise woke us up pretty much everyday except when it rained - whether it was due to the large conference in town or just a regular summer night, I'm not sure.
