If you can find the entrance to this place its really worth a visit.
Gamster and I like to learn about places we visit and this is a great place to do that.
Takes about an hour if you read it all and its really cheap.

closed Mondays I think

Everyone should go, see how people lived and what they did for others

Thank sircarl

I went there as a history fan, and I was a tiny disappointed. Indeed, the center is hosted by the union itself, so it is far from being objective and they do use the museum to promote their political message...

Still worth a visit if you have time though.

TOP MUSEUM - GDANSK SHIP WORKERS + FALL OF COMMUNISM - CHEAP! - INFORMATIVE

Don't be fooled with the usual entrance to the museum when you find yourself going underground. The museum is great value, especially for students! I have to admit when going to Gdansk I knew nothing of its importance in the fall of communism. The cold war is a topic very underrated in British history lessons, however after leaving I felt that I'd learnt a lot! I cannot believe that the fall of communism started in the shipyards in Gdansk and their bravery encouraged many more to follow behind them. The museum does have English subtitles - not on everything but on most things. The videos all have English subtitles and the walls are translated into English. Each room tells a different stage of the story. I especially enjoyed reading some individuals stories on the walls about their contributions to the movement.

Well worth a visit - probably the best thing i saw in Gdansk. I cannot believe I didn't know about these people they were so important!

This is the place, where modern Central/Eastern European history was written. If you're into history, then this place and Westerplatte is worth of visiting.
