I have had the good fortune this year to stay in some top hotels and eat in excellent restaurants. But for me, our eating experience at the Moravska Chalupa was better than any I have experienced not just this year, but in well over a decade. I confess to being a big fan of Ostrava and its people, and the restaurant typified the Ostrava experience. Very friendly and efficient service, a cosy and unpretentious atmosphere, excellent value for money and fantastic food. I recommend the steak tartare, pork knuckle, and 'farmer's potatoes'. It's on a street adjacent to Stodolni so after a meal it's easy to enjoy a nightcap or two in one of the many bars. Like the city the restaurant has real substance, and it alone is worth crossing the country for!
