“Creepy crypt”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We visited the crypt late one afternoon and there were very few other visitors which was a good thing for the atmosphere of the vaults. There was an information leaflet in English which had lots of information abut one of the preserved inhabitants, but limited information about the others. However we would definitely recommend a visit.

“Not for everyone”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

I loved this place; my wife did not. Capuchin Monks and their sponsors lie on display, centuries after their deaths. The sponsors lie in glass coffins. The Monks themselves lie on the floor at the lowest level. All have been mummified by natural process. Fascinating to some; revolting to others. Self-guiding info packets are available in a number of languages.

“Creepy”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

We toured the Capuchin Crypt in the basement of the Monastery in Brno.
No photos were permitted, which is in respect for the bodies that are on display.
The caskets contain skeletal remains, and there is a glass top which puts the bodies on easy display.
In the bottom of the crypt, there are monks whose skeletons lie on the floor in rows behind a glass wall for easy viewing. It is very cryptic.(that was not meant to be a pun). I found the whole thing to be quite disturbing, but the people whom I was with were fascinated.

“Exceeded Expectations”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

This crypt is very well done and informative. I must admit, I got a little creeped out while in there. As someone that has seen a lot of mummies on her travels (not sure why), this really made me think and appreciate life. I recommend!
