“Not a 4 star hotel”

I ve been in this hotel for one night and I am a bit disappointed about how it is classified. It should be more a 2/3 stat hotel. Common spaces are very well manteined, nice and modern. Breakfast is good but not the best ever tried. What worth less are rooms. Old fashioned and moquette, curtains not very clean. Ther s a big balcony altough and wifi connection. Bathroom is ok not spacious but clean. I paied a single room about 70 euros, too much for the kind of hotel. I would reccomend fir short staying and if find a cheap fare. Hotel is 10 mins walk to the centre.

We stayed in Brno for 4 nights and found the room quiet and comfortable. Check-in was quick and pleasant, with a helpful staff at the front desk. Friendly wait staff in the restaurant, but they haven't embraced a non-smoking policy. We were impressed with the extensive breakfast buffet. You could easily eat enough to carry you through to dinner! Lots of variety, and very tasty too. We were less than pleased with the fact that facecloths aren't provided. Also, for some strange reason, the sun is blazingly bright in the room by 6 am. The curtains do nothing to block out the sunlight. Great views, good location and friendly staff would bring us back to stay here again.

Room Tip: If morning sun bothers you, ask for something on the west side.

I stayed at the hotel for a second time. I noticed it's been renovated, at least on the outside. My room was small but clean and had a nice view over the town. WiFi is good, but not good enough for good video calls or high quality streaming. You can get some fork done for sure. Good location of the hotel. Friendly reception staff. I think there might be a problem with summer heats as I didn't notice any air conditioning and I could feel the room was quite warmer when I walked inside after dinner. Good to check this.

I'm not sure what the negative reviewers of this hotel could possibly find to complain about given the price, location and good service. This is not a gracious architectural gem, certainly - the hotel is in a purpose-built tower block, rather out of place with its surroundings- but it provides an excellent base for business or tourism.
I stayed here on business for a week, in an airy, spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped room with en-suite shower room. My spacious private balcony had views south and east, catching the morning light and the reflected glow of sunsets (others look west towards castle or south towards the old town). Room design is modern-functional, with good beds. Plenty of sockets at the desk space for laptop, cell phone etc. Good, speedy, free wifi in room and around the hotel.
Excellent front office and restaurant/cafe service - restaurant and cafe were both quiet when I was there, a relief after a busy day . Good middle-European cuisine. The breakfast room is large and not particularly elegant, but airy and sunny with a generous and plentiful buffet which is constantly replensished. If you prefer a more tranquil experience, for a modest price breakfast can be served in your room
Interesting lobby and cafe/restaurant architecture suggests an homage to the 1930s modernism of the World Heritage Villa Tugendhat, one of the jewels of Brno.
There is a reasonably priced car park, and a thermal bath and treatment centre in the basement for those who like such things. Taxis wait outside, and/or can be quickly summoned by telephone from reception. Multilingual staff at desk and in cafe/restaurant.
Very convenient for opera, galleries, the University and the old town; close to tram system but not so close as to be noisy. A short taxi ride from the main railway station, the commercial centre, the Castle and the Tugendhat Villa.
Would definitely stay again.

A couple of drawbacks:
Outgoing emails using the hotel internet connection have to be by webmail; but no problem with incoming mail
Limited television channels - only CNN and Eurosport in English; but wifi offers excellent bandwidth for streamed BBC Radio etc

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best views

Arrived to this hotel for a 2 days convention with one of our clients. First thing I saw was obviously the building itself, ugly, typical from the comunism era. Reception hasn't been redecorated in the last 40 years. Receptionist kind and check in happened fast. Parking space, below the building seems to be redone or new. Then...then came the rooms...Eleventh floor, for your reference. Corridors and rooms themselves haven't been touched in the last 40 years neither. it is ugly and makes you feel like in a cheap hostel (what in Spain we call pension) Phones in the room should be in a museum. Toiletries substandard for a 4 stars and shower, second day in the morning, decided to stop hot water, as if it couldn't cope with so many people takins showers at the same time.
Another story is about internet and food. Internet is good, you can connect by cable or wirless. Is free, wireless sometimes doesn't work (I guess if many people using, like was the case in our convention) and by cable, works reasonably well. It is free.
Food was served for us in breakfast and lunch. Is good, and service quick. I wouldn't say food is outstanding, but it could be of a four stars hotel. The rest of the hotel should be left to 1 or 2 stars, maximum. Needs urgently a full refurbishment to bring the hotel to the 4 stars standard, or loose stars.

My first visit at this hotel was for one week in September and two years after in January for two weeks. Brno hasn't got a lot to offer and this hotel is close to the central area of Brno's shops, restaurants and attractions. The first time our office was really close but the second time we had to take a tram and walk or a taxi to go the industrial area. The personnel was really helpful calling for a taxi each time and always smiling (only the reception area staff). The hotel has only one main restaurant for lunch and dinner and a small bar which doesn't have a lot to offer. The hotel is mainly for conferences so it doesn't have anything else to offer and that was really bad for us as we stayed there for two weeks the second time and it was quite boring. The room tv had only two channels in English at the time and it was nothing interesting on. Internet speed was really slow and disappointing but the fact that after two years they have upgraded from dial up to WiFi was really good. Their breakfast was good but all the time the same. We only ate once in the hotel when it snowed and everything else was shut but the food quality isn't worth to be mentioned. The hotel had also a computer available for use next to the bar but with limited access not really good if you wanna print your ticket. Also a warmer welcome feeling from the staff in restaurant area would have been nicer.

I spent three nights at the Hotel Continental, attending a conference at the university. The accommodation was comfortable, and the restaurant food good. Location-wise, it is an easy walk from the bus station, but, since the streets of Brno are cobbled, dragging a suitcase is a noisy experience. Walking in to Brno centre is easy, as was walking to the university buildings. The hotel has good free Wi-Fi coverage, capable of supporting a VPN connection and both Skype and FaceTime, although it tended to be on the slow slide. There was a convenient tram stop just around the corner, by the park, from what I think was the central tram station. There was also a useful corner shop opposite. If I were to stay in Brno again, I would head for this hotel happily.

Room Tip: Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available; although the pleasant reception staff asked me, I would...
