The hotel is a nice, small, well-kept hotel outside, but well connected to the center of Brno. The owner and his wife run the show, and that gives it a little bit of a smaller feel, but they do a really good job. In fact, we were so impressed after our first night that we ended up cancelling our reservation at a different hotel and extended at the Hotel Jonathan.
We thought our rooms were nice. Our large party of four adults and three kids needed to reserve two rooms, and one of those rooms needed a second bed and a crib, but if it wasn't for the extra beds, the room would've been quite spacious (both rooms were on the second floor facing the road). There was a small desk and TV in the room, too. Rooms had their own bathrooms. Wireless Internet was included in the price of the room and worked well for us. We found the rooms to be clean, and while not fancy, everything worked and was full, working order. There were other guests in the hotel, but unless they were walking past our room, we did not hear them. Overall, the rooms were functional, clean, and even a little pleasant.
Our reservation included breakfast, and we were definitely happy with this aspect of our stay. Breakfast included rolls, meat, cheese, yogurt, juice, cereal and milk if you wanted it (often a key for kids who aren't used to the standard European breakfast), and usually some kind of sweet. They also offered coffee if you wanted it. There was certainly enough food, and it was all really good.
The hotel's location, not in the center of town, may be a problem for some people, but probably shouldn't be. There is a bus stop almost right out the door, and the hotel typically has a few bus passes available for purchase at the reception desk. It is also within walking distance of a great restaurant. (Some other TripAdvisor posters have noted some other amenities that are close-by, so the hotel's location is probably even better than we thought.) It goes without saying that one could get a taxi, too. Since it's well connected to the center of town, the quiet location is well worth any extra effort one may have to make to use public transportation. You can walk around the quiet neighborhood, get something to eat at one of the nearby restaurants, and just enjoy peace and quiet.
We found the owner to be very accommodating, helpful, and responsive to all our questions and requests. The price is very fair — well worth it — and it was nice to note that in Europe, where paying with a credit card still isn't a given, it was an option here. We would definitely recommend staying here and would return ourselves should the opportunity present itself.
