Description: The famous Stopek's Beer House has always been one of the pillars of Czech social and cultural life in Brno. There has been a pub here since the second half of the 19th century. It became famous with the arrival of the new owner, the genius Jaroslav Stopka, who took over the original Jonak's Beer House in 1910. Period advertisements always declared that the best Pilsner beer could be had at Stopka's. The pub retained its character and atmosphere even after its extensive modernisation. The author of the façade of the beer house is Czech painter and graphic artist Láďa Novák (1865 - 1944), a well-know Prague bohemian and also the author of the decorations on the U Fleků Pub in Prague, was also repaired and renovated. Pilsner Urquell and dark Velkopopovický Kozel, Fénix and Birell Light are all on tap. The head chef at Stopek's Beer House, Matěj Kovacs, recommends the excellent rosemary flavoured roasted lamb hock.

“Good for beer and Czech food”
Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Taste of beer is great and have gone there two times in one year. Great envirnment to spend evening with friends. Food is good taste and authentic local preperation taste. Must try Tartar. Location is easy to find but Layout is confusing. Service is slow. Did not like the spoups and not much variety either. Reccomend only for drinks and not dinner.

Sat in here for less than 5 mins, waiter has already brought our order, then walks past 10 mins later and asked, "same again"! Love it! The food is great, boyfriend had, Goulash Soup, I had the meat platter, fantastic!

“Fantastic food and atmosphere”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Great food - the pork ribs must have come from a pig the size of a horse! Extremely lively, really attentive service and excellent value for money. The wine from the region of South Moravia is amongst the best I have ever tasted

“Don't get the lamb!”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

I visited this restaurant a while ago and was VERY disappointed. In addition to the rude staff there (they are shocking) the food was pitiful. It's rare to get lamb shank on a menu in Brno so I was delighted to see it was on offer......the presentation was nice, the meat itself was inedible. It's like buying a BMW, starting it up, only to realise you've got a hairdryer motor for an engine...it was that bad. The meat was obviously frozen for so long, it had freezer burn, it was hard and dry and seemed to have gone from freezer to microwave to table. Others that I was eating with were also left disappointed. Either pay the chef and the waiters more money so that MIGHT motivate them to start caring about food quality and customer service. Or, if that doesn't work....sack them! But above, please, stop selling the lamb. Lamb is a beautiful meat and you haven't done it any justice whatsoever.
