Description: The famous Stopek's Beer House has always been one of the pillars of Czech social and cultural life in Brno. There has been a pub here since the second half of the 19th century. It became famous with the arrival of the new owner, the genius Jaroslav Stopka, who took over the original Jonak's Beer House in 1910. Period advertisements always declared that the best Pilsner beer could be had at Stopka's. The pub retained its character and atmosphere even after its extensive modernisation. The author of the façade of the beer house is Czech painter and graphic artist Láďa Novák (1865 - 1944), a well-know Prague bohemian and also the author of the decorations on the U Fleků Pub in Prague, was also repaired and renovated. Pilsner Urquell and dark Velkopopovický Kozel, Fénix and Birell Light are all on tap. The head chef at Stopek's Beer House, Matěj Kovacs, recommends the excellent rosemary flavoured roasted lamb hock.

“Great food, restricted beer choice”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

The food here is really good, if you like the rustic Czech cuisine. Enormous dishes of good meat, with dumplings, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. Quite cheap, moreover.

The choice of beer is quite restricted: "Pilsener Urquell" only - I wish they had the local one as well.

Try their "Jelinek" Slivocicz, I liked it very much.

The place is packed on Fridays and Saturdays, make sure you order in advance.

“Great service, food and drinks”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

I usually come here for business meals. It gets a little too loud though so I am not sure why I keep coming back :) Probably because of the quality of the food, drinks and service. A little on the expensive side. But if you're coming from Switzerland, UK or US the price will look like "peanuts" to you.

“Impressive! So tasty!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

While in Brno we decided to try different place to eat and saw Stopkova...we remember place as a old fashioned pub full of smoke but it is not the case anymore...went inside and got place in non smoking section on the first floor... Which is great and hard to find in Czech republic...
Place is renovated ...very nice and clean...toilettes were super clean!

Service was very friendly and professional from the start to the end....

Appetizers... Pate..meat plate... Very good!

We each ordered different kind of soup and have to say..all were very good but winner was garlic soup with croutons and stinky cheese ( tvaruzky)

Rest of the food was just great..we can not write about all of it since we went back again and again and tried as much as possible while in Brno... Duck..schnitzel from turkey..Moravian and Spanish bird, goulash ... Our mouth is watering just when we think about our visits...

We will be back for sure and we are recommending this place to everyone who loves food and wants to try Czech food on top of it....wooow..very impressive !
