This was our third and final night in Prague, and it just so happened to be Valentine's Day! Fancy that! Anyway, having eaten at one Czech restaurant and one Thai restaurant, we thought we'd try Universal for a 'romantic dinner'. Having had a beer at the Bar 23 just around the corner, which was great value at £1.20 a pint, we headed off to Universal. The service was excellent and we were quickly shown to our table. The special menu included a glass of perfectly pleasant bubbly. Scallops in a rich sauce, followed by duck with potatoes and vegetables, all went down very well. The nut pie dessert was a little crunchy and heavy, but perfectly palatable. We wanted to order a bottle of Czech red to go with the duck, but the lovely waitress suggested that our money would be better spent on the French for the same price! Good advice! We chatted the night away and very much enjoyed the experience. This was another busy restaurant which is always a good advert for the food. We settled the tab feeling that it was money well spent and headed back to our hotel very happy with our final day in Prague. Universal delivered good food for a good price and we would recommend the restaurant as worth a visit.

A perfect place for special occasions, to enjoy amazing food and wine for a reasonable price. We have tried a variety of starters, soups, main dishes and even a bigger variety of desserts offered, and were highly satisfied with all of it. It is probably not a place for an everyday dinner with a student's budget, but i can highly recommend this restaurant for celebrations or any other special occasions.

Four of us had dinner here recently. The decor is basic, somewhere between french bistro and pizzeria.

We had many different dishes. The highlight was the french onion soup (2 eur), the salmon tartar and the goose liver (even though the portion was minute). The duck breast we had was very chewy. The tuna was ok. The italian salad was a big bowl of leaves without much flavor.

The service was nice but rather slow.

Overall ok but wouldnt be rushing back.

Went here based on some outstanding TripAdvisor reviews and can't help but feel let down. The place itself is a very nice and casual affair. The service was awful. The waitresses spent more time speaking to their friends than actually doing any work. I had the soup and Grilled "Rack" of Lamb. My partner had the Duck starter and Salad. Her dishes were good and praise should be given where deserved. However, my "rack" of lamb consisted of 3 tiny legs with little to no meat on them. They were overly salted to the point I couldn't eat much of it. The veg was inconsistent in texture and the steak frits were dry and tasted old. I complained to the waitress and said the meal was terrible, and her response was to give us the bill which was just shy of 1000 crowns. Service charge included which I refused to pay. They didn't even seem to care.

Don't go here. It is an awful waste of money.

We met a friend in Prague who recommended this restaurant: we were not disappointed! Good food, good service, good value.

Very low-key atmosphere, casual type of restaurant. Lots of choices on the menu. I had the chicken roll with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes...very tasty! Salads are good sized, tasty & fresh!

It was our first meal in Prague and it was quite pleasant.
