“Heaven for lovers of swift service”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Many opinions om this place, but I have to say I really loved it at U Fleku and will most definitely be coming back next time I'm in Prague. The place has its own unique atmosphere, it's a really old pub that also brews its own beer. It's dark and delicious. You find youself seated on a bench amongst other fellow diners with a waiter fetching you beer and becherovka or mead almost instanteneously. Then they take your order and voila, your meal appears in front of you five to ten minutes later. The selection is not wide but with the big turnover and limited menu you may be sure the food you're being served is fresh and good. After you've finished your meal, no one hurries you out of therestaurant and you can enjoy smoke and more beer. People smoke inside so that might be a problem, but otherwise everything is great. i love fast service, is one of those things that really do count for me in a restaurant and therefore I found lunch here really a great, fast and reasonably cheap experience. Oh, not to say the food and the bear is delicious. Waiters are really funny. If you want to enjoy old school pub, just come.

“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Really nice, oldest pub in Prague. Only have dark beer which I don't normally like but easily finished 3 mugs. Be careful of the guy bringing round shots, they're not free!!!! Once you tell him no he leaves you alone! Prices are a little higher than the local pubs but good for a tourist attraction. You can finder cheaper, but you are paying for the experience.

Didn't have food, but the people next us did and it looked yummy. Tradition czech, dumplings etc!

“poor .. best avoided”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

trading on a reputation for far too long .. it's average at best .. a total tourist trap .. there are better ways to spend money and time in Prague.

U Fleku is a kind of beer Disneyland .. the beers good for sure but all the associated shenanigans aren't worth it .

If you go look around you .. apart from the staff, how many Czechs do you see .. none

You want great Czech beer .. where the locals drink go to Zly Casy in Prague 4

“Touristy but interesting”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Yes, U Fleku is definitely "touristy" but I think it's interesting to experience the Czech atmosphere. There's lots of wood everywhere, walls, tables and bar plus the accordion singer dressed in traditional style. We found the waiters quite nice but maybe this is because we were with Czech friends?
I'm not a beer connoisseur but the food was decent and the garlic soup really good (if you like garlic, of course).
I take it as part of the Prague experience.

“Classic Czech”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

This is the place to go for classic czech food and beer. The beer is brewed on site and is served by the tankard. Also available is becherovka but nothing else (no coke or vodka etc).

The wood covered walls and long benches help get you into the social atmosphere and there is always an accordion player dishing out tunes.

The food is immense - Fleku's Treat serves you up half a duck, czech sausage and roast pork along with some great tasting sauerkraut. I would eat this everyday if I could. Other things available are pork knuckle and goulash which was also really popular with my group. The food is alot cheaper than the similar restaurants in Prague with a main being £6-£12.

As soon as I'm back in Prague this will be the place I will go to - trust me it beats anywhere else in Prague and I've explored the city on 3 occasions.
