We drove to Prague and the doorman proceeded to guide us into the courtyard parking area, took our baggage and directed us into the hotel. The people at the front desk seemed to expect us and kindly explained the hotel attributes (including in-hotel breakfast - included in the room price, local tram and subway stops - only 3 blocks away, and tour options among others. The sign-in process was accomplished, not at the front desk, but on couches in the lobby!

We asked for a recommendation for a destination that evening of our arrival and the lady at the desk not only provided a few alternatives, but wrote our detailed instructions on how to take the tram to the chosen destination..

The staff at breakfast the next morning (and each morning during our stay) was accommodating, recognized us and prepared our chosen beverages. They went out of their way to make our visit to the restaurant pleasant and carefree, even during a time we decided to join the hotel for a light dinner.

The housecleaning staff was understanding, even when we wanted them to delay cleaning our rooms until later.

The rooms were comfortable, the pillows and bed coverings ample and the windows could open easily when necessary.

The location of the hotel was in a quiet area, kust three blocks from the river or from public transportation.

We can recommend this hotel very highly indeed. The friendly & efficient service provided by all the staff could not be faulted - nothing was too much trouble. We were extremely pleasantly surprised on our arrival by the sincerity of the welcome, which included a drink of our choice (a nice touch).

Believe all the good reviews on this place because they are true. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. All the staff are so professional and attentive. The hotel has though of every little detail to make your trip great. The breakfast is delicious, served by friendly staff, the cleaning staff does a great job, and the counter staff are very informative. Also, don't miss the wine bar, it is so beautiful. The car service to the hotel is great because you don't have to mess with shady cab drivers and it is a reasonable price. Getting ripped off at the beginning of your trip is a real bummer and I wouldn't chance it. For budget travelers, getting the metro to the hotel is quite feasible as well.

Don't believe the reviews that say this hotel is far from all the tourist attractions because it is NOT true. The hotel is blocks from a metro and tram stop and it takes less than 20 minutes to get to Charles Bridge. You can walk along the bridges and get a good view of the layout of Prague. The neighborhood is a growing neighborhood with a ton of great restaurants and bars. Also, there is a grocery store and mall nearby. You couldn't pay me to stay in the crowded tourist. If I return to Prague I will definitely stay here again.

All the positive reviews about the Hotel General are spot on.
If you are looking for a Hotel away from the city hustle and bustle this is the one for you.
The welcoming is especially good , the staff take time and trouble to welcome you to Prague over a free welcome drink giving us basic details on location , sites to see and travelling.
The rooms are very comfortable with all the amenities you would require , even down to dressing gowns and slippers.
Breakfast is to a very high standard with a choice of Buffet or seoerate items cooked to order , at no extra charge .
The hotel has a lovely small cellar bar and for a hotel the charges are reasonable
To get to all the major sites Andel Metro staion and Tram Stops are just a short walk away and are very efficient - we never had to wait more than 5 minutes and within 20 minutes you are wherever you want to be , plus it is cheap a day pass is just about 3 pounds ( 100czk ) be warned the Metro's escalator at Andel is not for the fainthearted as it is very steep and very fast more like a conveyer belt on fast speed !
Restaurants are plentiful around Andel so you do not need to travel far , likewise the Hotel does itself have a good restaurant of a high quality.
I would advise booking travel from the airport using a service like Prague transfer which is reasonable and avoids any problems with overcharging and also we included tickets for travel around Prague using both Tram and Metro which saved any hastle of buying tickets , remember to get the tickets stamped on the machine on the tram or Metro - Failure can result in an on the spot fine - this can be quite hefty.
If you want to book any excursions , this also can be done in advance we went to a Medieval Night in a cellar in Prague Old Town - it was great fun, lots of food ( perfect if you are on the Atkins diet ! ) and good entertainment.
To round everything off the Hotel organised a limo back to the airport , likewise very reasonable ( 700czk ) perfect way to end a perfect break.
You will not be dissapointed by this choice of Hotel , Perfect in everyway made better by perfect staff

Quiet boutique hotel in the suburb of Prague away from the craziness of the downtown. Nicely appointed hotel, friendly staff and great breakfast. Ten minute walk to the Metro, Tesco grocery and a modern mall. Once on the Metro it is fifteen minutes to the city center. If you like to walk as we do it is 20-30 minutes to Old Town.
The Hotel exceeded our expectations!
