Eventually found this museum - in the monastery grounds. Was worth the hunt! Very small museum. However, amazing tiny works of art by micro-miniaturist Konenko. A row of camels through the eye of a needle, a very detailed train on a strand of hair and portrait of Chekhov on a poppy seed - just incredible. Apparently he had to work between heartbeats as work so intricate. I would have liked to know more about the artist Konenko. There was only an A4 sheet of paper with very brief explanations. I wanted more about the artist and history behind his work. In my opinion this very small museum could be much improved with very little effort.
Wasn't sure about paying when we saw how small the museum was but glad we did. The exhibits were fascinating. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
We specifically wanted to visit this museum and took the 22 tram to the new minated stop. However, it was not explained to us that the museums is actually within the grounds of the monastery. The exhibits are awesome but as mentioned earlier, there is very little information on their origin or the three sculptors who created them.
Very very small place (I hesitated to pay when I saw that it was so small), however impressive kind of art is presented there ! I still don’t understand how to make these miniatures was possible...
A small museum, but the pieces themselves are incredible and worth the price of admission. No information outside of a blurry sheet of paper about the artist. Would be great to know more about how they were created.
This museum is very impressive and sculpting on a hair strand, poppy seed or mosquito wing clearly requires great skill, patience and time! For me the gold cup, Eiffel Tower and car were the most eye-catching pieces- the detail was phenomenal.
If you’re in the area, it’s worth a visit but not sure I’d travel too far to see it as there aren’t a huge number of exhibits. We were in and out in around 20 mins.
