Great choice (unless you're vegatarian although there were still options). Traditional Czech cuisine so heavy on duck & game, etc. Friendly staff, slightly kitsch decoration but not in a bad way, Food quality was excellent.

Great place to go for a meat dinner in Prague. Cuisine is traditional Czech/Bohemian: lots of meat and potatoes. Only drawback was the man playing the electric piano in the corner -- didn't add much to the mood.

I certainly can't claim to have sampled every restaurant in the city, but of the 30-40 I've dined in on my various trips to Prague, U Modre Kachnicky (The Blue Duckling) has to be the best. There is a great atmosphere inside and the food - largely traditional Czech cuisine - is outstanding. It's perhaps not the cheapest restaurant, but neither is it as expensive as the quality and service could easily demand.
We were apparently not alone in our enthusiasm for the place - a hand painted list details some of the restaurant's notable regulars, ranging from top local political figures like Václav Havel and Václav Klaus to international celebrities like Sean Connery, Mia Farrow, Roger Federer and Pink Floyd! We didn't spot any of them on our visit, but we could certainly see why they would be attracted to this great place.
