As every italian shall do, even me i avoid italian restaurant abroad...especially in lands as Czech Republic!
This general rule by the way, admits some exceptions...restaurant Cogo is surely one of them!
Meat is simply wonderfull...no jokes, really fantastic! A friend from Florence who use to eat there told me that their fiorentina steak is at same level as in Tuscany...and this is one of the best greetings! Even if only for the meat this restaurant deserves to be visited!
Hopefully they doesn't have onky very good meat to offer!
Fish...umbelievable fresh (people, remember we are in Prague!) and very well done too!
Pizza...as in a italian pizzeria in Italy!
Pasta and risotto...well i didn't explore yet all their repertoire of italian specialities (i'm always a bit afraid from pastas abroad) but surely i will, than let you know if pastas are at same level as meats, fishes and entries.

This place is still very popular even though it has been going strong for 12 years. I had an excellent steak as a main course and a delicious desert. It is not a fine dining experience but certainly very decent food at slightly elevated prices.

The food here is consistently good. Some of the best you'll get in this landlocked city and the pasta is outstanding (even if they use a bit too much butter sometimes). Excellent wine list! Service is generally fantastic but if they are not too busy the waiters can slack off a bit.

The thing is that since nearly every restaurant in Prague serves the same horrible, tasteless food often with questionable meat, you know you're safe here and will have a great Italian meal.

On a family visit to Prague, we decided to have lunch at Kogo. The ambience was nice - table cloths and attentive service. The menu is several pages long, just about all italian cuisine. We started with the antipasta for two and were surprised at the variety and freshness - cheese, prosciutto, olive, tomatoes, toast, etc. I had a couple of glasses of the house red, which was a Chateau Los Boldos, a Cabernet, that was delicious (I'll look for some bottles of that later). The girls had the pasta - which was OK - the sauce was tasty but the pasta overcooked. I had Caesar salad with chicken. From my experience, the dressing should have had more tang to it, rather than a simple mayo. We had saved up space for dessert and were a bit disappointed in the tiramisu (needed more lady fingers or "bite") than the small glass of marscapone had to offer. The pineapple-caramel dessert was different, but there was hardly any caramel. It was basically a warmed up pineapple wedge. We were, however, shocked when the blll came in at nearly 100 USD. We realized that there were two restaurants, across the alleyway, and learned that one was for smokers and the other was for non-smoking. For our next Italian meal in Prague, I think we'll seek out something with better value.
