Small and minimalist but interesting museum created with a lot of passion, knowledge, vision and unconventional ideas.
I was impressed from the beginning of the exhibition (with the black and white film showing pre-war Prague!) to the end marked by a timeline-like collection of different Kafka's works editions. Really dark, gloomy place just like Kafka's imagination. You will find there not only the famous first edition of "The Trial" but also knowledge about the writer's biography, aesthetically presented quotes, scans of letters, drawings, photos... This museum gives you an opportunity to go deeper, be almost inside of the Kafka's world and feel on your skin what "kafkaesque" means. There's Yiddish music, there are animations and rooms dedicated to particular stories (e.g. "The Castle" or "The Burrow").
The ticket price is rather high but believe me, it's worth it. You will find many things to read inside (in German, Czech or English), but you should just expect it in the writer's museum. Also, it's chilly inside so I think it can be a good break from wandering through The Lesser Quarter's streets during hot summer months. I highly recommend this place to people already loving Franz Kafka or wanting to know something more about him.
