My husband and I went on three separate tours with Wittmann guides and each was special and unforgettable. We toured the Jewish quarter with Vida, whose exceptional knowledge, dry wit, and stories of family and work in Prague and elsewhere in the Czech Republic really enhanced our experience. We went to Terezin with a survivor of Terezin and Auschwitz, Pavel Stransky, who is over 90 years old. We felt privileged and honored to explore these places with a man whose courage, knowledge, humanity, commitment to Holocaust education, and lack of bitterness were truly extraordinary. Finally, we went on the Art & Architecture Tour with Barbora, the youngest of the three, a graduate student who has tremendous enthusiasm and passion for what she does. She too was very knowledgeable, and spent extra time with us to make sure that we were able to see just what we wanted to see in beautiful Prague. She shared her love and knowledge of architecture and took us by car to some places on the outskirts, including the cemetery where Kafka is buried (which in addition to the deep meaning of many of its memorials has unique art nouveau tombstones) and the Church of the Heart of Our Lord [not quite remembering the name as I write this -- sorry] -- a modernist church. We also visited and learned about the architecture of other remarkable churches, buildings, and concert halls. At our request, Barbora left us at the end of the tour at the Church of St. Cyril [again, not the full name], where the heroes who killed Heydrich were apprehended. I fully recommend Wittmann Tours. The office staff was professional and reliable and the guides were phenomenal.
