“Outstanding Holiday!”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Residence Agnes and we could not be happier. From the moment of our arrival, we were made welcome and the hospitality from all of the staff was simply outstanding. The hotel itself is set in a fabulous location, 5mins away from the Old Town square. Room was spacious and spotless. Breakfast consisted of an excellent selection and will cater for all tastes and requirements. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful and had excellent local knowledge. We were even provided with free transportation to Prague Castle which was a huge bonus.
We could not praise this hotel and its staff highly enough and we plan on returning next year.We were very sad to leave and the staff even waved us goodbye as we left for the airport.

A fabulous week in a wonderful city and the hotel was simply the icing on the cake.

Thanks again.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was fine for our requirements, lift is available if required.

We were in a group of 6 who have been travelling to major cities around Europe for 10 years. The management could not have been more welcoming with drinks on arrival, clean quiet rooms, comfortable beds with spacious showers. We were recommended to some superb local restaurants, the breakfast was fresh and everything you could have possibly wanted to start the day. All staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A very accommodating friendly hotel and easily the best we have found over the years. Thank you

After 3 nights at an International Chain hotel for a conference, we moved to the Residence Agnes. We couldn't have been more pleased. The staff: Frank, Nataly, Bara, Magdalena and Bishi are wonderful hosts. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are very comfortable. We read all tripadvisor reviews before booking. I can't imagine a better hotel or experience in Prague. All I can say is our stay was perfect. The worst I can say is that the wifi connection was not the best on 4th floor. However, I was able to connect while in the lobby, enjoying a glass of complementary wine! How bad is that!! Visit the Residence Agnes, you will love this lovely hotel and the wonderful staff!

Room Tip: If you need consistent wifi access in the room, ask for a room below the 4th floor. The 4th floor is...

A wonderfully comfortable hotel, and the management were so welcoming and helpful that I have to say it's the best hotel I've ever stayed in, and I look forward to staying there again. My two friends and I were treated like Royalty

I will not repeat what has already been mentioned by the other reviewers except to affirm every favorable comment as strongly as possible. My wife and I are independent travellers who visit Europe at least 1-2 times per year. We usually rent an apartment or villa and use it as a home base to visit a region or large city. Because we were only staying in Prague 10 days, and because we thought we might have some language difficulties requiring a bit more "hands on" service that we are used to, we chose a small "botique" hotel as the next best thing to our own apartment residence. And that is what Hotel Agnes felt like: our own place but with the friendliest, most charming and helpful staff we have EVER encountered in a European hotel. The staff, after a day or two, felt more like friends than hotel functionaries. They shared our stories, laughed at our jokes, shared a glass of wine with us (gratis) after a long day on the road (we used Prague as our "base" to visit the countryside and some Czech relatives of mine), and of course made excellent recomendations for restaurants, bars, etc. If we return to Prague we will make sure that we stay nowhere else but Hotel Agnes.

Ill leave this short as reading other reviews - enough has been said.....

Frank and his team incredible....even driving us around the city.
Location perfect.
Breakfast great (finally something other than just ham and cheese for b/fast)
Rooms great and quiet.

We didn't care about prices for accom on our 4 week Europe trip. Agnes was well priced.

This place by far outweighed ANYWHERE we stayed.

10 out of 10 and we will be back

We chose the residence Agnes based on the consistently excellent reviews we read on TripAdvisor. We couldn't agree more with these impressions, but I wanted to mention a few things that aren't discussed a lot.

Since we were staying for four days, we took advantage of the complimentary car service from the Prague airport to the hotel. The driver was right where they said he would be at the airport with a sign with our name, and gave us a mini-tour along the way to the hotel.

He insisted on bringing our bags into the hotel, and we were greeted by Frank, Natalie and Linda. I didn't recognize Frank as "Frank", the one everyone refers to as the owner and manager - I had anticipated he'd be in a formal, dark suit directing the employees around. Not Frank. Don't look for the dark suit. Look for him in a neat sports shirt and neat jeans! We thought at first that he was the luggage porter, since her grabbed the bags and stacked them up next to the reception desk.

As it was about 10:15am, and our room would not be ready until later, Frank escorted us into the breakfast room and sat us down to a much-needed breakfast after two flights from NYC. We were not entitled to breakfast until the next day, but nothing like that seems to phase Frank. His whole goal is to please - or over-please his guests, which you'll see is consistent with every member of his staff. The breakfast room was open for a few more minutes, and he made sure we had the full tour of all the splendid offerings and that we had time to leisurely enjoy this wonderful breakfast spread that we learned to love and be spoiled over for the next four days.

As we try to stay up that first long day when we travel to Europe, we walked the short distance to the Old Town Square. The hotel is probably a brisk 5-8 minute walk from the boisterous square, and yet on returning, the last street or two becomes so quiet - and yet safe (!) - that it seems like you are in a distant part of the city. We returned around 2:30pm, after having picked up two mini-quiches at a wonderful bakery (wish I'd recorded the name) along the way. When we entered, Frank was there - he's ALWAYS there - Frank is ubiquitous - and asked what we'd bought in the bag. We told him, and said we were heading up to our room to have a rest and eat them. He wouldn't hear of this. He and Linda directed us to a table in the lobby, sat us down, brought placemats, silverware, napkins, plates, offered to heat our quiches and asked us if we wanted water, wine or beer. More guests arrived, and were offered the wine or beer, and some pretzels and other snacks. The party had begun!

Frank said that for some reason Linda doesn't get a lot of press on TripAdvisor, so it's our turn to tell you all about Linda. She is an attractive, slender young lady who keeps her figure by telling folks she doesn't each Czech food! She recommended all four of the restaurants we ate at while we were in Prague, and all were excellent. One, the Marina, built on a barge in the Vltava River overlooking the Prague Castle (spectacular at night), has a row of tables by the window. Without our asking when we made the reservation through her, she offered to try and get us one of those sought-after tables. She must have a way with the folks there, since we got a perfect table. Bravo, Linda! She has impeccable English.

Frank has a phrase that you've seen in many reviews that he must use hundreds of times a day: "I will take you in my car." Each morning, he'd spend a few minutes with us at breakfast asking us where we were headed that day. He kept offering to "take us in his car", so that one day we told him we'd accept his ride to the Prague Castle, which is at the top of a steep hill on the other side of the Vltava. We told we'd be reading about 9:30; when we came down, Frank was atypically absent. We asked Linda if he was around - she said he was called away, but had arranged for a prepaid taxi to take us to the Castle - even the gratuity! He even offered to take us to a site in the suburbs to see a building he thought we would love - in his car, of course, and offered to buy us two tram tickets back!

The last day, I asked Linda if she could arrange for a taxi to take us to the train station. When we were leaving our room, Frank saw is pulling our luggage and was upstairs in a flash to take the bags away from us. He wheeled them out to his car, and took us not only to the train station, but showed us the exact way to the platform to make sure we got on the correct train. As you might expect, Frank doesn't accept gratuities. He does this because he loves his job and his hotel.

We have travelled all over Europe, and rarely have we had breakfasts that even approach "Frank's breakfasts". An amazing spread of everything you could imagine for breakfast - and some things you wouldn't imagine. Even delicate crepes with Canadian maple syrup!

I echo all the other wonderful comments you have read in other reviews about the Residence Agnes. It goes without saying that we have already told countless people about this unique hotel. Do not ever wonder whether it's true - it is - all and more. Do yourself a favor in Prague and stay with Frank - you will be raving as much as we have been. Thank you, Frank, Linda, Victoria, Zbysek, Natalie and all the other hosts at the Agnes. You made us feel like kings and queens in your castle and we are deeply indebted to you.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor (first floor above the lobby) and slept with the windows open - some min...
